CS is just a great way to meet people who share the same love for traveling. I've been to many CS meetings and I've made some good friends in this way! I've also been using CS as a guest on my travels. I've never hosted people "officially" on CS but I've lived in a shared flat where we regularly had friends and travellers staying with us for a few days.

Seeing a volcano erupting in Guatemala... In Bulgaria: I visited a huge abandoned communist building that really looked like a UFO... A creepy and off the beaten track experience! In Sri Lanka: I climbed on top of a mountain using a 7 kilometre long staircase in the middle of the night. Arriving to the buddhist temple on the top and watching the sunrise was amazing...
