I live on the Monterrey Bay and commute to East Bay at least weekly. So much time on the road makes me sleepy, and I would rather safely find a place to spend the day or night, depending on which shift I am working, than drive home not fully awake. Occasionally I like to hang out on the Peninsula or around SF, and would prefer to borrow or rent a couch than pay for a hostel or motel room which I would not fully utilize if only there to sleep. That probably would apply to more distant locations as well, if I ever get around to some real traveling.

Most rock genres including classics like Frank Z, Led Z and P Floyd, experimental music; Avatar, Star Trek sequels, James Bond thrillers; used to read James Michener epics, now just whatever is online, in a magazine or in newsprint.
