I stayed with a host family in a fairly rural village in Cambodia for a week. My host brother and I became close despite our language barriers as Koiy did life with me for a week. He took me on a motor bike ride down a country rode, past cows, rice paddies and huts, to a fallen dam that was constructed during the Khmer Rouge regime. Koiy said that the sandy banks of the rivers are used as a festival ground every khmer new year. We sat on the edge of the dam and sat in silence as the river flowed slowly by. That's the furthest I've ever felt from home, yet the closest I've been to humanity.

How to use a sewing machine, or garageband or imovie. I can teach you to cook some filipino and puerto rican foods thanks to both sides of my family. I bake a mean apple pie and I can show you how to do that :)
