I began this initiative with a deep sense of responsibility and compassion, personally supporting and funding mentally disabled children in Nepal directly from abroad. After completing three years of academic study and three years of professional experience as a pedagogue in Berlin, I came to profoundly understand the critical importance of mental health beginning in early childhood. Driven by this awareness, I pursued an additional two years of study and completed my training in theatre and acting therapy. Through this journey, I realized how deeply connected mental well-being and the health of the soul truly are. When I visited Nepal, I was deeply moved—and equally shocked—to discover that in Province No. 1 there is only one government school dedicated to children with mental disabilities . At the same time, many private NGOs and INGOs receive funding of more than one million dollars per month, while government-run social projects are allocated as little as Rs. 5,000 (less than 50 USD) per month—an amount that is painfully insufficient and incomparable. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the dedicated doctors of OM SHAI Hospital in Prakashpur, who compassionately provide free medical treatment to individuals living below the poverty line. With great honor, the OM SAI Hospital accompanied me on a motorcycle to Janta School in Ramdhuni, Inaruwa, where I had the privilege of meeting warm-hearted and inspiring children with autism. I extend my deepest respect and heartfelt appreciation to the entire school team. Despite receiving very modest salaries, they continue their work with extraordinary dedication. Many of them even bring clothes and essential items from their own homes to support the children. They represent the true spirit of grassroots social service and human compassion. In honor of my late father, I have established the “Damodar Prashad Chapagain Fund.” My father was a man of integrity and generosity who always guided and inspired me to serve others. Even after his retirement, he dedicated 35 years of his life to social work. Now, it is my turn to carry forward his legacy. He always told me, “Education is the most powerful weapon against ignorance and illusion.” His words continue to shape my mission and strengthen my commitment. As a personal pledge, I am contributing a minimum of 100 Euros per year to support this cause and ensure the continuity of this initiative. Through the Damodar Prashad Chapagain Fund, I humbly seek to support the Autism Children’s Program at Janta School. I respectfully invite everyone to contribute whatever they can directly to the school’s bank account under the name of the Damodar Prashad Chapagain Fund. For transparency and accountability, I can also personally forward the official agreement with the school regarding the establishment and purpose of this fund from email (helpingbibek@gmail.com). Bank Details for Direct Contribution Bank Name: Nepal Bank Limited SWIFT Code: NEBLNPKA (or NEBLNPKAXXX) Branch Location: Jumka Branch, Sunsari, Nepal Account Holder Name: Shree Janta Secondary School Account Number: 12900100940747000001 Every contribution—no matter how small—is not simply a donation. It is a statement that these children matter. It is an investment in dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. Together, we can become the voice for those who are often unheard, the support for those who are often overlooked, and the hope for a future where every child—regardless of ability—receives the care, respect, and education they deserve. Let us stand together in compassion and responsibility, and transform small acts of kindness into lasting change. abibek
