Live music in various places in Northside (Urban Artifact, Northside Tavern, The Comet, Listing Loon) - you can find who's playing on Facebook and/or their websites. OTR is a very popular neighborhood to walk around, lots of people there, public murals, restaurants, bars, etc. A variety of events take place there depending on time of year. Japps has some good music a few nights a week. Yelp will show you reviews on all the different restaurants.
www.citybeat.com - click on To Do and you'll see a list of things happening in the city. It isn't everything, but it does include a lot. All depends on what you're into.
Definitely go to OTR (Over the Rhine) and check out the various bars and restaurants there. I recommend The Eagle as a place for grub or Skyline Chili if you want local food. Graeters has the best ice cream. The Drinkery is a fun dancing bar. Definitely go to Fountain Square for some ice skating in the wintertime or Washington Park. If you have time, go across the river to Newport and hang out there. Have fun!
If you head out of the city, there's still lots to do. West Chester (30 ish minutes North) has Top Golf, Main Event, and Breakout. It's also home to Ikea, which is a trip in itself. There's a dining movie theater at Liberty Centre, and other various shops and places to eat there as well.
The main spots of activity in Cincinnati are OTR as others have mentioned (Washington Park is beautiful and always hase something going on) http://washingtonpark.org, Fountain square downtown with events and free concerts all summer http://myfountainsquare.com and The banks area down between the stadiums. All of these areas are vibrant, mostly safe and are the real life blood of this city. I hope this helps.
