Couchsurfing
Welcome to Couchsurfing Official. This is our little corner of the platform. Run by the Couchsurfing team, for the people want to use it (which we hope is you).
New features, product updates, community news... this is where it lands first. Think of it as a direct line to what's happening and where you can tell us what you think.
Glad you're here.
Group Hangouts are here 🎉
Hey everyone,
Big update this week: Group Hangouts are back! You can now see who's nearby and create your own Group Hangout instead of coordinating with one person at a time. Pick a spot, give it a name, and invite others to join. Or jump into a Hangout that's already happening.
We also shipped a bunch of improvements across the app, including profile photo editing, a cleaner feed, better contact and calendar syncing, smoother chat and stay request flows, plus hundreds of bug fixes and performance improvements.
And one more thing: next week we're launching a new walkthrough for both the app and website to make it easier to discover everything Couchsurfing has to offer.
Want the full rundown? Read our blog for the full story.
Now go start a Hangout! We'll see you out there. 👋

🌲 Portland Couchsurfers: Stumptown Couch Crash is almost here!
Portland is about to be filled with Couchsurfers from around the world!
From July 16–19, join us for Stumptown Couch Crash 2026, a weekend of exploring Portland, making new friends, sharing meals, discovering hidden gems, and creating the kind of memories that only happen when amazing people come together.
Whether you're a Portland local or traveling in from across the country (or across the globe), this is your chance to experience the city through the Couchsurfing community.
Expect new friendships, spontaneous adventures, and plenty of stories you'll be telling long after the weekend ends.
👉 Check out the event here, see who's coming, and join us in Portland!
See you at Stumptown Couch Crash! 💙
Can't Host Right Now? Pause Hosting!
Taking a trip? Busy with work? Have family in town?
No problem! You can Pause Hosting at any time to temporarily remove yourself from the host search results in your city for 30 days. That way, travelers won't send you hosting requests while you're unavailable.
When you're ready to host again, simply turn hosting back on and you'll reappear in search.
To find it:
Profile → Edit Home → Hosting Visibility → Pause Hosting
Keeping your hosting status up to date helps travelers find available hosts and makes the Couchsurfing community even better for everyone!
