I’m traveling during the whole June, not in Dali. About Me I'm an experienced international Chinese teacher, coaching learners across the globe. I’m a psychology enthusiast who understands myself, others and social groups through the lens of psychology. I’m a slow-paced traveler, getting to know communities and cities through long-term stays. I’m a spiritual practitioner, exploring the unknown beyond science through religious knowledge and practices. I cherish the courage to face oneself, the habit of self-reflection, examining the nature of things, a spirit of exploration, and an open-minded attitude. My Couchsurfing Philosophy: equality, respect, sharing
Hi, I’m Prakash, from the ocean-side lands of Goa, western India. I walk the path of a traditional yogi and a filmmaker, one foot in the world, the other in the silence behind it. In 2018, I left my work as a quality engineer, not out of rebellion, but from a quiet calling deep inside. Since then, I’ve lived as a wanderer. No plan, just presence. For nearly a two years now, I’ve been walking across Asia, Altai, Mongolia, Siberia, Buryatia, Yakutia, drawn to places where spirit still whispers through land, sky, and fire. The yogic path I follow is rooted in breath (prana), sound (mantra), and stillness (dhyana). Not performance, not show. Just awareness. What I practice is less about posture, more about presence. I’ve seen how the ancient ways still breathe quietly in remote places, often unnoticed. For over two years, I moved across the Indian subcontinent like water, living with tribes, monks, and forest people, from the icy stillness of Ladakh and Nepal to the warm earth of South India, the jungles of the Northeast, and the old deserts of Rajasthan. I traveled with little, but received much. Culture, stories, language, food, and the wisdom that comes from simplicity. To me, travel isn’t escape. It’s tapas, a kind of sacred burning. Every step a shedding. Every silence a teacher. If our paths cross, I’d be glad to sit, share breath, maybe chant a little, or tell you stories the mountains once told me. Not to impress, just to connect. Because in the end, we’re all walking each other home.

Update about our hosting We recently moved from Chengdu to Dali city, Yunnan Province, and are now hosting travelers in a small village by Erhai Lake. 🌿 If you are coming to Dali: We’d be happy to host you here and share the beauty of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai. 🏡 If you are traveling to Chengdu: Our good friends there can host you in our former home and warmly welcome you to join Friendshouse language and cultural activities, which continue with their help. Feel free to message us for details about either Dali or Chengdu—we’re glad to connect travelers with both places! Updates: my new project Hi, I am John. I’ve been practicing Chinese Kung Fu for over 10 years, winning medals and working as a coach and judge. I’ve noticed that many foreign friends love experiencing martial arts while in China, but often struggle with language barriers or finding opportunities. So, I’d love to trade skills: You teach me 60 minutes of your native language (any language is welcome!). I teach you 60 minutes of practical Kung Fu moves—no experience needed! Let’s train in my backyard, make friends, and give my kids the chance to grow up hearing languages from around the world. Bring your culture—I’ll bring the tea and training gear! Hey there! We're thrilled to be hosting again in 2023 and can't wait to welcome you to our home in Chengdu! We're a friendly family, and we love hosting guests with little kids. Our own son, Johnson, is 4 years old and speaks Chinese and simple English. We're all about creating a fun and cultural experience for our guests. We're passionate about sharing traditional Chinese culture with you. Get ready to witness exciting lion dance performances and even learn some Wing Chun Kung Fu moves if you're up for it! We've been hosting Couchsurfers since 2012 and have met amazing people from all over the world. As locals, we can give you insider tips and help you explore the best of Chengdu. Our place is conveniently located near delicious snack restaurants and provides easy access to train stations and tourist bus centers. When we're not hosting, we're busy rescuing and rehoming stray cats and dogs. If you love animals, we'd love to share our stories with you! During your stay, we can teach you some Chinese, introduce you to our favorite local dishes, and share our Couchsurfing adventures. We're also passionate about music, movies, and sports like Kung Fu and badminton. We're excited to meet you, share our home, and create lifelong memories together. Reach out to us if you have any questions or if you're ready for an awesome time in Chengdu, China! Looking forward to hosting you soon, Josh, John, and little Johnson PHILOSOPHY If you do not have time and money to travel around the world, then let the world come into your life!
