After raising a family of 2 boys with their Japanese mom, I am now single and enjoy travelling again as I used to do in my younger years, 26 countries on all continents now (except Antartica!) ; D ... It feels essential to me to make life worth living, by meeting people and continue discovering how amazing this planet is ! I'm primarily interested in making new friends, exploring local cultures and arts, and enjoying breathtaking Nature...
I am a designer working remotely💻 Since I can work without being in Kyoto, I have made it my life's work to stay in various cities around the world to understand their cultures and people. Other recent efforts include - Digitization of the medical industry; we are focusing our UI design projects on the medical field. - Learning about the universe. There's still so much we don't know about space! I would love to be an astronaut. - I want more people to experience different parts of the world like us.

Vegans, vegetarians, Muslims, and smokers, please do not message me! We have different values. I do not drink alcohol. I am not a vegetarian or Muslim, so I do not know any vegetarian or halal restaurants in Kyoto. I cannot go out to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner with you. sorry. No smoking I will take you to my favorite lunch. There are areas in Kyoto where you are fined for smoking. My favorite lunch place is in an area where you are fined for smoking. Thanks to me setting the rules, I have been able to continue Couchsurfing for a long time. "Yes, that’s right. I wrote it in a strong way on purpose. I’ve been using Couchsurfing for 20 years, and during that time I’ve met many vegetarians, vegans, and halal travelers. Based on all those experiences, I chose to be very clear about my preferences. In Japan, it’s often difficult for vegetarians, vegans, halal travelers, and non-restricted eaters to enjoy the same restaurant together. I’ve experienced this many times, and I’ve often had to change plans or spend a lot of time trying to accommodate different dietary requirements. So, if you are vegetarian, vegan, require halal food, drink alcohol, or smoke, I’d kindly ask you to meet with another Couchsurfer instead of me. I wrote this clearly because I believe it’s the best way for both of us to have a happy and enjoyable experience, with no hard feelings." Some couchsurfers send me messages saying, “I love your profile!” I really appreciate that. However, if our lifestyles or values are different, I think it may be better for both of us to meet other people and enjoy our time. In the past, I have changed my plans many times after meeting couchsurfers who told me, “Actually, I’m vegetarian,” “I’m vegan,” or “I need halal food.” This is why I wrote my preference clearly in my profile. I am not rejecting vegetarians, vegans, or people who need halal food. I respect everyone’s choices. However, I don’t usually go to restaurants with people who have these dietary requirements because I don’t know suitable restaurants. Many foreign visitors do not realize that in Japan, many restaurants still do not have vegetarian, vegan, or halal-friendly menus. Some people assume that it is easy to find restaurants that can accommodate these diets, but the reality is that it can be difficult depending on the area and the restaurant. I want to avoid situations where someone expects to enjoy a meal together, but we cannot find a suitable place. That is why I prefer to be honest from the beginning. If our preferences are different, I hope we can both find people who share our interests and have a wonderful experience in Japan. Subway One-Day Pass: 800 yen. ------------- Currently I only have time for meeting up, probably for dinner in Kyoto or Osaka. ------------- ABOUT ME I live in Kyoto with my Czech husband, and work as a graphic designer in Osaka. We started marriage life in South Moravia in the Czech Republic, and came back in Kyoto in 2020. I used to host Couchsurfers at my place often before, but I currently don’t have enough time for that. Although I genuinely enjoy meeting people. I have been enjoying going around Kyoto by bike or in Kimono for my spare time. I have to say Kyoto is too busy nowadays, but I believe I could suggest you some hidden palaces. IG : @nrkn
Hi! I’m Taiki, from Japan, currently based in Kyoto. I’m a PhD student in human geography/urban studies, and my research takes me often to Kampala, Uganda. I’m fascinated by cities, but usually less by “must-see” sights than by ordinary neighborhoods, public transport, markets, housing, and the small things that make a place feel lived in. When I travel, I like walking with no strict plan, finding local food, watching films, going to live music or a good bar, and talking with people about how they live and what they care about. I’m curious and sociable, but also independent—I’m very happy exploring on my own and don’t expect a host to entertain me.
Welcome to my profile! I live in Kyoto City. The nearest station is 3 stops from JR Kyoto Station. Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle are near the apartment. They are very famous tourist destinations. I would like to learn the language and culture from tourists who visit Kyoto. However, I can only speak Japanese. I use Google Translate for most of my communication. If you don't mind, I can show you around Kyoto. I work in a medical facility. I usually have Sundays off. Lastly, would you accept me if I visit your country? If so, I would be happy! Feel free to message me
【PLEASE READ THROUGH MY PROFILE AND THE INFO ABOUT MY FLAT / APARTMENT AS WELL👉】 🚨I always turn down the requests from the Couchsurfers who don't read my profile or just send me a random(Copy-Paste) message and last minute request with no consideration and respect. NO CHANCE if you do them. I receive many requests to stay and am picky about my guest😂 Reading my profile and imagining the situation we share the flat are really important to avoid the troubles😅Prerequisite😶 I’m looking forward to your original message. ⚠️I host both men and women equally. But I receive many requests from female travelers, especially those who want to try cooking with me. Recently I can’t keep the ideal balance between men and women🙏💦 ⚠️I’m VERY VERY straight😂 *I’m sorry gay people. Please don't get your hopes up🤢 ⚠️Stop thinking of my place as JUST A FREE GUESTHOUSE😑If you think so, you just suck. ⚠️As a typical educated Japanese guy, I HATE the people who can’t say "Thanks" and "Sorry". I don’t hesitate to kick you out of my place if you apply to the impolite person. ⚠️I’m afraid it’s pretty rare for me to accept a short period request and more than two requests in a month because I always try my best for my guest to make good memories as a host in my busy schedule😶 I used to guide tourists from abroad at some famous temples and shrines in Kyoto city using English and French for 3 years for free. In addition, I have experience as a bartender at the most popular night club in Kyoto / dining bar / wedding parties. I often have a board game party and make cocktails for my friends at my place. You can make fantastic memories here and I'll assist you as the best host in Kyoto. Many guests who I hosted says "Hiro, I can’t stay at someone’s place long because I feel awkward or nervous sometimes you know, but I can do it and be myself here"😊lol So I believe in the magical power🧙♂️and always try my best to make your stay a cozy one. *Most guests stay here for a week actually. 【What you can experience at my place】 Cooking with me and making anything(*I cook every day and have more than 1,000 recipes including international ones / I can cook for vegetarians & vegans & religious people according to their taboos), Baking and making sweets with me, Learning how to make cocktails, Playing video games(you can put the screen of Nitendo switch up on the ceiling using a projector if you like. lol) and various kinds of board games, Enjoying a movie night with a 86 inch screen, Working out using a training bench and dumbbells or going running with me, Making the best itinerary in Kyoto, Enjoying Hiro’s card magic show(*if I feel like it lol), Immersing in a real life in Japan, Organizing our own event and meeting amazing people, Practicing very useful catchy phrases with me and becoming a superstar in Japan, Doing a sightseeing with a bike and the best guide in Kyoto, Going to Spa onsen (hot spring) and sento (public bathes) located near my place, Doing the laundry and taking a bath every day, Chilling out on the couch drinking various kinds of soft drinks or nice black tea / Turkish style çay or green tea or nice coffee including a decaf type(coffee machine) or super healthy veggie & fruit juice(slow juicer) or my cocktails, etc… 🚨PLEASE READ THROUGH THE INFO ABOUT MY FLAT / APARTMENT AS WELL👉👉👉A little bit more

I have had some bad experience in couchsurfing. Two guys have come in 2017. The guy from Puerto Rico and Spain. Alvaro de Arco and Diego Acosta. Especially Alvaro de arco is very authoritive. He behaves like he is the owner at my place. These two have asked me to give some drinks and food. I am not their servant. Especially the guys from Puerto Rico and Spain were the most disgusting ones. These two walk outside on barefoot. They were asking all the time some drinks and foods. They asked me whether or not I have tried some pot. I have never used any drugs in my life. They are taking care of marijuana in Malaysia. That is what they told me. The main purpose of Couchsurfing is for helping the travelers so that they can travel smooth and enjoy. And there is another thing. If some couch surfer have some bad reviews, those make me wonder whether or not I can host those people at my place. Nobody is perfect for sure. Basic rules to be followed at my place : never sleep with nothing on : take a shower before going to sleep at night : please keep yourself clean. And there is one more thing. My place has a steep stairs,so if you travel with kids , please don’t send me any requests to stay coz there is no guarantee for the safety. I don’t want to see any kids fall from the second floor. Please understand. I am not a VEGETARIAN nor VEGAN. So if you are a vegan, it is better to find some other hosts coz I eat meats and fishes as well. And if you are a vegetarian, but eat the marine products such as fish or shell fish, that is ok with me. But It is difficult to host a vegan. I respect and understand the concept of a VEGAN, but that is not me. CURRENT MISSION The world would be able to be much beautiful and funny when we all mutually are bounded.
