Algo que eu diria ao meu eu mais jovem é...
There's lots of things to be afraid of in the world, but don't be afraid of talking to people. An awkward conversation is a lesson in how to do it better, the next time.
Por que estou no Couchsurfing
It's my favourite example of a trust experiment: the idea that there's kindness to be found amongst strangers. The people that I meet here in CS embody the spirit of camaraderie in a way I've found in no other community
Música, Filmes e Livros
Books: Currently reading "Mastery". Music: Anything Spotify throws at me. They're so good at suggesting stuff I like, it's creepy. Films: Big dumb action flicks. Car chases, aliens, explosions, all that sublime stuff.
Uma Coisa Incrível Que Já Fiz
I was at the foot of the Himalayas, the summer of 2011. Desperate to get away from the madding crowd of Madhi, we trudged through snow and rock for a while, until it was just me and a friend, and a snow-covered valley enclosed by mountains on all sides. Right in the middle of that vast white expanse, was a hut. Inside that hut, was a monk. Who had been living there in isolation for six months. While we were wrapped in bulky jackets and boots, all he had on was his saffron robe, and a pair of sunglasses, while he diligently shoveled snow around the concrete hut. A humble guy, he was once a UT grad and an investment banker who gave it all up to follow the path of God, decades ago. Quite a meeting, that was.
Ensinar, Aprender, Compartilhar
"People who wander are nicer to be with. Movement militates against hoarding possessions and against bigotry, because you are constantly moving across boundaries and having to negotiate with people. I would say they have a bigger sense of the world." - Robyn Davidson Never have I found this so true, than in the couchsurfing community. The ability to share experiences with people from wildly different backgrounds and cultures allows us to get a bigger picture of humanity. It's humbling, and life-affirming. Sounds corny, but I sincerely believe in this.
Meus Interesses
I enjoy visits to museums, art galleries and stuff. I'm also a big fan of standup comedy, and I know a coupla places where booze is cheap and laughs are guaranteed. I enjoy a lot of things, really. I give anything a try.
