I joined when I decided to travel around Europe on my own one summer and have lots of fond memories of the adventures that ensued. In my hometown of Magdeburg (which obviously doesn't see very many travellers) I occasionally showed CSers around that had somehow wound up there. When I moved to Manchester, CS provided a great way to meet loads of lovely people at meetings and get togethers, and I also hosted some very nice surfers. While travelling around the world by bicycle for two years, I stayed with 130 hosts through Couchsurfing and Warmshowers (another hospitality network, specifically for touring cyclists) which was a hugely important part of the trip and led to many of its most memorable experiences. I'm now back in Germany and hope I will be able to give back to the community by hosting again once the lockdown is over.
