I did a solo backpacking trip around Europe, 12 countries in 26 days, and it was the most exhausting and beautiful experience of my life. I was only 20 and so new to the world, but I took in as much as my young brain could fathom and I came out the other side with gratitude. I slept in airports, dodged transit police, played the piano with strangers in train stations, carried bread and cheese around town for lunch (on several occasions), cried at the Van Gogh museum.
