Hi! I’m Mélina, a French Canadian who has been living abroad for a while. I’m currently based in the historic center of Guatemala City. I work for a local feminist newspaper, and I’m passionate about history, politics, and social justice. Outside of work, I do my best to keep my mind sane by training for my first marathon! I’m really into running and anything outdoors. I don’t like routine, so I’m always up for an adventure or a new discovery. I love yoga, painting, reading, and I’m a big, big coffee drinker!

Por que estou no Couchsurfing
Even with all the atrocities in the world, I still have faith in humanity, and in alternative ways to connect and express empathy. Couchsurfing is one of those ways for me. Being hosted has brought me many new friendships, stories, and adventures. As a host, I’ve had amazing conversations and cultural exchanges - and I love playing tour guide in the cities I lived in. I’m all about authentic and equally shared relationships.

Uma Coisa Incrível Que Já Fiz
I don’t put too much value on “self-made” success, I believe I am built and constantly rebuilt thanks to all the women and people who came before me. That said, I’ve run three half-marathons and I’m on my way to my first fulllllllll one (haha)! I climbed Kilimanjaro (arguably one of the most questionable decisions ever), attended a Vodou ceremony (also questionable), and done so many other things… Lord.
