Hi! I'm Ömer, I am an English major from Yeditepe University. I have had amazing experiences on this platform that have broadened up my perspective and helped me make beautiful connections with beatiful people. Been here for almost 10 years, I had quite a close connection from the start and had some good fun! Fun Fact: I sometimes ride the Taksim dolmuş just for fun, can say has a therapeutic side to it, would suggest if you stay :)

Algo que eu diria ao meu eu mais jovem é...
Freedom is inevitable, don't run away from it!
Minha forma favorita de retribuir à minha comunidade é...
empathy, understanding and love
Se eu tivesse uma música tema pessoal, seria…
Something from Leprous perhaps, lyrics may be unrelated but music this epic is hard to catch! Perhaps a Scarlatti sonata as well...
Se eu pudesse dominar qualquer habilidade instantaneamente, seria...
perhaps languages, they do open doors.
Meu roteiro de viagem ideal: planejado ou deixar rolar?
"go-with-the-flow", you never know what you can find around the corner, sometimes you find yourself in neighbourhoods with a bad reputation that teach you about the other side of it and show you a different nuance, or some random, unpopular or common thing becomes the day's attraction, you meet people you never forget and learn from immensely. This is no exam prep; this is learning for the passion of it. Follow your heart and intuition, be a flaneur... Limitations have a certain function, in this case, not necessary... Plans sometimes should change for the intended result.
Por que estou no Couchsurfing
To meet people from around the world and get to know new faces and cultures, learning about their stories and provide a nice stay for them.
Música, Filmes e Livros
I don't have that many favourites in general but for music I can say: -Erkan Oğur -Placebo -Muse -Bach -Beethoven -Dowland -Bill Withers -Athena -Stromae -Angèle -Björk -Children of Bodom -The Beatles -Okean Elzy -ABBA -Jean Sibelius -Guitar music from Latin America -System of a Down -Dream Theater -Tricky -Smoke City -Kaizers Orchestra -Scarlatti -I love the sound of Bulgarian Women Choirs -Musicals in general I do like too! and a lot of others from around the world, from different times and places. These are some of the highlights I may say. I listen mostly any genre of music. For movies, I want a decent level of cinematography, dialogue, plot and depth, so usually not those blockbuster movies or those which are mainly made for cash these days. I think I am more into the 'European Cinema', if I watch one. And for books, let's say texts and literature, I like what I am having to read in the university for now. Though I read some other personally selected texts as well, wouldn't say 'favourite' though.
Uma Coisa Incrível Que Já Fiz
I worked in an off-license in London for a week or so. The area was quite diverse with lots of different nationalities. So, I am used to the English accent, I believe I can understand (though obviously not exposed to all) most of them (the native ones) with relative ease, but these customers I had were from God knows where in Africa (I COULD recognize Nigerian or Jamaican and such). I understood nothing at all for an awkward minute until the shopkeeper came to my rescue. Apparently, they wanted that paper for what some call ''the good stuff''. Now I am thinking to myself if they were already high, or if they, the shopkeeper and the customers, were actually speaking in a different language to communicate.
Ensinar, Aprender, Compartilhar
Well I can tell you about my country, suggest things you might like while you are here. Perhaps cook you some Turkish dishes, attempt some you might like the idea of (and hope that it turns out good), in turn I would really love to learn about your culture and perhaps learn a dish or two and so on. Of course if we have the time to sit and talk there a lot of things we can learn and share from one another, I really like the cultural exchange aspect of the experience, different perspectives (especially of one from different nationals) are appreciated. I wouldn't say I can teach you ''how to play the guitar'' but I had some experience in this so I can perhaps suggest a way for you to learn it, the books and the exercises etc. I mainly focused on classical guitar. We can jam maybe.
O Que Posso Oferecer aos Hosts
I can share my knowledge and perspective about my own country. Can bring some special thing from the country I am coming from if I can. I can buy some of the necessary items for the house and of course (no-brainer but) will provide for my own needs. Other than that whatever I can I guess...
