I'm very new to CS (brand new!) as I make my way home to Perth via Europe for a few quick stop offs to see family and friends in Madrid, Amsterdam and London. I've been travelling solo throughout South America for just over six months so sleeping in dorm rooms with five to ten people is getting a little (a lot) tiring. I've noticed a few have said that they only accept those who also host (completely understandable), alas, I sold my house and quit my job to do this trip. Upon my return and acquisition of a suitable house, I intend on opening up my doors to fellow travellers as I know the trials and tribulations attached to travel whether it be short or long term.

I was walking around some local markets in Chile, when I came across a small gem/jewellery store.. Upon walking in I saw two elderly, weathered, gentlemen in their leather work aprons, hands covered in black, sitting on upsidedown milk crates, playing dominoes.. In my basic Spanish I said, "hello, how are you?" and commented on them playing dominoes.. Without the bat of an eyelid I had a crate overturned, cushion put on and was dealt a hand.. The two gents offered me a beer and a cigarette and I played dominoes with them for an hour. I would have stayed longer if it wasn't getting dark outside. I had absolutely no idea what they were saying and they had no idea what I was saying. There was a lot of miming and laughing. It might sound ridiculous to most, but to me it was one of the most warm, genuine, welcoming experiences I've had. No bullshit.
