Many thanks for all the tips and information guys.

After the comment of having it a dangerous area (I assume that was meant for early mornings during darkness) I decided to take a flight the night before at 9pm.

Its gonna be a national flight and I plan to be at the airport at 7 pm.

Assuming thats gonna be much safer to use the Metro and then change to the shuttle to the Airport?

Or do you still suggest that I take the fly away bus?

Is this for an international flight or domestic flight?

Most LA area couchsurfers recommend the Flyaway Bus from Union Station to LAX for $9. Here is a link to their website:

At that time of day, the trip should be about 30 minutes, and there are buses about every hour during the night and early morning, and a bus at 5:30, and then buses every 30 minutes.

Note that they will be picking up at the west side of Union Station this summer.

The #40 night bus runs from downtown to the LAX City Bus Center. From there it is a short walk to LAX Parking Lot C, and from there you can take the Parking Lot C Shuttle to LAX.

The #40 night bus leaves from Spring and 7th downtown at 12:15, 1:15, 2:15, etc. It is $1.75

I also vote for the FlyAway. Also, the metro is not so dangerous, just extremely inconvenient to get to. Just pay attention to your surroundings, but please don't be dissuaded from using the Metro.

FlyAway... to Union Station. There you can catch subways that connect to most any part of the city.

You might want to try Supershuttle or other shuttle/van services, although a bit more expensive, you won't be hauling your luggages from place to place especially in that early hours.

Where are you coming from in LA? The FlyAway isn't the most convenient option depending on what area of the city you are coming from.

I think by "metro is dangerous" what people mean is ' there are black people.' Metro is really pretty safe but some people don't like the crowd who take it often. In the early morning or during rush hour there will be no problems.

A lot of people here are recommending Flyaway, but if you don't know where you're staying yet - Flyaway from stops other than Union Station have limited hours, and won't be running that early in the morning.

Union Station is downtown-ish, but note that the subway and light rail (many of which connect there) stop running around 2AM on Fri/Sat, and midnight other nights. There are a few buses (33, 70, probably some others) that run there, but depending on where you're coming from, transferring and waiting could take you a while.
