Extend the visa in Pakistan
Hello out there,
does anybody has got experience on extending the visa in Pakistan? I would like to do it and tried to find some news on the internet but all I got is from last year June. At that time it seems to be quite easy to obtain an extension, even an overstay was possible. Does anybody know how the situation is now? And which city is the best one to do it? And how long does the process usually take?
Thanks a lot for answering!

It is not very easy but it is possible. Let me know when do you want to do it. I am in Afghanistan now, i will be back to Pakistan by 10 march i can help you when i am there.
Even though you found latest from the internet from last June but there are no reports of any downgrade lately, so it might be reasonable to think that it is still possible.
And as Karim suggested, it might not be a piece of cake, and you should have some good reason for that.
So in the absence of a latest feedback, imo, it might be worth taking the risk to go to the relevant authority in Islamabad.
It depends on the purpose of visit. If it is for business/humanitarian purpose, it can be extended using the company's letter that has invited you. If it's for tourism purpose, you have to build a strong case and your sponsor should be able to help you out with it.
p.s. the best place would be Islamabad, but i have heard people getting extension from Karachi as well. Good Luck
I can share my fresh experience on getting my already expired visa extended (the finishing part was with Kim, topic starter;) wish she'd also share her story)
I got my single entry 45 day visa back in my country. As it already expired while my passport was in the Indian mission (it took me and my friend 35 days to get an Indian visa in Islamabad btw) and the whole overstay was equal one month.
The Passport headquarters in G8, Islamabad, sent me to Pak Secretariat (sector R in F5) to get the permission letter. At the secretariat they confirmed my 2 month extension (one month that I already stayed + one extra month. It cost me 13 500 Rs). They also asked, if I want to have a double entry extension (wow! But that was too expensive, around 27 000 Rs, so I refused).
Then I brought the letter back to Passport headquarters and was sent to the National bank of Pakistan (G9 Markaz) to pay. After I brought the check I was given a receipt that my passport would be ready in 3 days (normally they say 7 for my case, but I told I'm going far north, where I'd definitely need my original passport)
To make this kind of extention you'll need to
fill in two application blanks (take them from Passport headquarters),
have two passport and visa copies,
two recent photos 3×4,
some money for cabs ;)
Let me know, if you want to have any further details, Best of luck, Dunia
Don't worry getting an extension is not that hard I get mine done in khi and my freinds and family who visit me have gotten it easily done Just go to passport office with the required documents and state your case. It would be best if you go with your sponsor. Try not to go after your visa expires you will have to pay a fine I think they have a maximum of 15 days grace peroid after expiration date of your visa. After that you will pay 50$ and the fees will increase after month and ECt goes by I hope that your extension is done just as easy Cheers Sahara
My experience of January, 20 2015 of obtaining extension in Islamabad.
Go to Pakistan secreteriat at F5, block R (9:00-10:30) or come at 11:00 to the entrance inside Secretariat, you will see VISA ISSUE sign. An officcer will show up at 11:00 or so, ask him for extension. Up to 6 month possible, but he rejected this duration and gave me 3 months. If you need doble entry or multiple, tell him NOW about it. He must state it in the paper. Then he will sign a paper and give you. For the procedure you will need a 1 blank form for visa extension, 2 photocopies of passport and 2 (ore one?) photos. Blank form and photocopies can be obtained at the shop at bus stand with Xerox machine, the place is left to the entrance and outside of Secretariat. Make your photos at Simco studio at F6 (taxi 80-100 rs one way).
Next day 9:00-13:00 go to G8 to visit Passport Immigration office (search for bulding in south-western corner of sector if using google map). Fill in the form, submit a passport and 1 photo along with paper from Secretariat. Visa extension up to 6 month is free for any citizen. If you are asking for double entry or multiple visa you will have to pay according to your nationality (e.g. Russian: dbl entry $55). If you want double entry or multiple - you should tell the officer in Secretariat beforehand to write it in paper! If you did not ask the officer in Secretariat to mention dbl enry or multi, you will not get it, but just an extension. If required, pay to the bank and come back soon with receipt.
As i did not know that i should ask officer for dbl entry, they did not give me that. I sumbitted passport and received a piece of paper stating the date i must collect my passport (12 business days, which equalled somehow to 20 days). But don't be in a hurry. On the date which was stated in my paper me and over 150 people could not receive our passports due to "database problem". The next day the same. I received my passport on the 3rd time of coming to passport office.
