Moving to St Petes. What are the best areas to live?

Hey all,

My wife and I are thinking of moving to St Petes in January. We are here now checking it out but it is hard to get a real feel for the areas. We want to be close (walkable) to some form of entertainment, and nature-park-coast. We were thinking Roser Park or Gulfport (but expensive). But open to all Pinellas. Hoping to hear your opinions. Also happy to meet up as well.

First of all, it is St. Pete, not St. Petes. :-) Housing throughout Pinellas County is high. Some areas of St. Pete are more affordable the further you get from downtown. Around the St. Pete College area is ok. and it's closer toward the beaches too. The southside has some affordable areas but not as desirable to live. Clearwater and Dunedin are nice communties further north. Also Palm Harbor.

A cheap (in the short term) option is to buy a mobile home ($10-30k) and pay lot rent of $500-700/month.

Pete and the beaches areas are great, but you need to see them. A lot of areas are nice, but it tends to be block-by-block. Some blocks are real good, others not so much. Do something temporary and look when you get here. Tampa Bay Times has ads for rooms to rent, maybe do that for a month or 2.

I like north St Pete - right above downtown!!

if you don't mind heat st. pete is very walkable, almost like a city in the northeast, there are lots of highrise condos and some office building too. if you are healthy and in good shape you can walk to Downtown st pete from Roser Park. Gulfport is more an self contained village. it is closer to beaches but not in walking distance of them.

Welcome to the neighborhood. There's a range of price options just outside of Gulfport that should fit any financial budget. I live on the South Side (Coquina Key) convenient to downtown and lotsa nature and parks... Rosier Park is one of my favorite spots also not far is the Lassing Park area (http://www.stpeteparksrec.org/lassingpark/#:~:text=One%20of%20St.%20Petersburg%E2%80%99s%20popular%20parks%2C%20Lassing%20Park,St.%20Pete%27s%20free%20Fun%20Fitness%20Boot%20Camp%20class.).

STAY WHERE YOUR FROM. DO NOT COME HERE. TO ALL THOSE THAT ARE WELCOMING YOU, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHATS HAPPENING TO OUR COMMUNITIES. WE ARE BEING PUSHED OUT JUST BECAUSE YOUR TIRED OF WHERE YOU LIVE? IF YOU DO COME, JUST KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE CAUSE OF WHY WE ARE HAVING A LOT OF HOUSELESS PEOPLE. UNDERSTAND THAT IF WE DO NOT CARE FOR THOSE AROUND US, HOW CAN WE SAY WE CARE OR THAT ARE AWOKE?
