There's an event run by volunteers at hostels in SF every Friday so that there's a place for backpackers and locals to meet each other. They have a tournament of beer games (flip cup, beer pong, etc). Everyone will either be randomly assigned to a team based on their country, or you can sign up with a team of friends. Either way, you will end up making a lot of new international friends. After the games are done, there's a 90's DJ Party. The event gets a bunch of travelers from all over the city along with locals. I do not attend every week, but there is always a volunteer there at the door so that you can be teamed up with other travelers. Come join in, have some cheap drinks, and make some new international friends for the night. MEETING POINT: Every Friday we meet 9PM at HORIZON (498 Broadway St - you must enter through Score Bar next door at 490 Broadway). Note: you must arrive by 9:30PM if you'd like to compete in the tournament and be added to a team. The entry is free but there is a drink minimum of $5 towards their special: Drink special is 5 beers/wine for $10 before 9:30PM, and then increases after 9:30PM. They also have posted at the hostels that there is a 'SF Ladies Night' group on facebook for ladies to get 4 free vodka drinks when you RSVP in advance.
