(EN) A fully non-commercial and alternative event aimed at escaping the city madness and sharing time in nature. It is completely free of charge with no organization fees. Each participant is fully responsible for themselves (transport, food, gear, and personal safety). Important: The hiking route is fully known and will be led by a mountain guide. However, the trek requires good physical fitness and good health! Quick Program / Кратка програма Day 1 (August 15): Northern Trek & 3D Mapping 04:45 AM: Meeting point at Varna Railway Station (пред главния вход / in front of the main entrance). We buy tickets and board the train. 05:00 AM: Leaving by train from Varna (via Tsareva Livada) to Gabrovo. Travel: We have a 40-minute transfer window in Gabrovo, then we take a local bus to the Yabluka district (about 30 minutes ride). Trek: About 3.5 hours of intensive uphill hiking from the northern side of Central Balkan to Mount Buzludzha. Bonus: plenty of wild blackberries (къпини) along the way to fuel our steps! Evening: Camping and overnight stay in tents at around 1400m altitude. We will watch the phenomenal 3D mapping show of the Open Buzludzha festival. There is an option to watch it from a free public zone – we will decide together on the spot where to watch from. Day 2 (August 16): Southern Descent & River Pools Morning: We continue with a 3-hour trek south, crossing the mountain towards the village of Enina. Relax: Exploring, cooling down, and chilling in the natural river pools of the Eninska River. Afternoon: Transfer (taxi/bus) to Kazanlak for a quick city walk. 05:11 PM (17:11): Catching the direct fast train from Kazanlak, arriving back in Varna at 09:50 PM (21:50). What you need to bring / Екипировка Camp gear: Small backpack (25–45 liters), personal camping gear (sleeping bag, mat, tent – if you have one), trekking poles (optional). Light: Headlamp or flashlight (mandatory for the campsite and the night show). Clothing & Shoes: Comfortable hiking boots with a good grip, hat, sunglasses, and a thin wind- and waterproof jacket (nights at 1400m get cold!). Other: Swimwear for the river pools, water bottle (at least 1 liter), sunscreen, snacks/food for the treks, and cash/card for personal expenses (train/bus tickets). "Small Group" Discount: If we buy tickets together as a group of 3 to 6 passengers, BDZ offers a 15% discount on the total price for a one-way trip. This group offer can only be purchased directly at the ticket counters, not online. Return Tickets: Buying a round-trip ticket at the station (Varna – Gabrovo and Kazanlak – Varna) also provides an additional commercial discount of around 10-20%.
