🌸September 2026 update Currently I’m based in Kisumu, Kenya. Surrounded by the beautiful Lake Victoria. I’m working for the environmental NGO under the governmental cooperation between Kenyan and Japanese government. Also,I’m pursuing the masters degree on MSc.Climate Change and Development in the SOAS University of London as a distant learning student. I’m happy to see you in Kenya:) I’m a bit confused by the update of CS, previous one was way better 😅 Hi everyone!☀️ I’m Taishin, a university student at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. I study environmental engineering and am particularly interested in renewable energy, and environmental policies. I’m passionate about traveling in a way that allows me to connect people living there, experience their cultures and traditions firsthand, and see the world through their perspectives. I also enjoy hosting travelers in Japan, listening to their life stories, showing them around where I am, and introducing them to authentic local experiences. That’s why I feel like I’m in the right place when using Couchsurfing! ✌️ Having traveled in 56 countries in this world, I found it particularly interesting how diverse the food cultures are and its background. In addition, I’ve always felt sharing meals together connect people very easily and deeply, having made very meaningful connections in my experiences. I can show and share you some very authentic& local Japanese food experiences, and you’re more welcomed to my place if you can show me something from your country and region:) March 2026 Update I’ll be in my hometown (Itoshima, Fukuoka)for a while until 21st of April. I’m staying with my family and we can invite you in our house with for some cultural exchange:) There’s hidden and beautiful cherry blossoms spot nearby during the seasons, and my home is reachable easily from the city by train.🌸 Having no photo of the house, but it’s much much better condition than my apartment in Sapporo haha October 2025 Update🍂 I’m back in Sapporo and have my own room now:) After spending half a year in Europe, I’m very happy to be back in Japan!! 😋 Im having my final semester here in Hokkaido, focusing on my research and thesis. I’ve started learning tea ceremony, sushi-making in earnest. I’m also enjoying the beautiful nature and delicious food in Hokkaido ⛄️🍣🍵 I just moved to my new flat. You can enjoy vibes of traditional Japanese culture in my room. **When you request, please mention what you expect to do when staying in my place. April 2025 Update 🌸 Currently I’m not in Japan After the 2 months journey backpacking through the Eurasian continent from China to Germany by bus and train, I started living in Munich as an exchange student and have my own private room, so I’ve just started opening up to hosting again. That said, I don’t have a couch or any real sleeping setup cuz I moved here with only one backpack.—having just a sleeping bag for my guest with me. So it’s definitely not the most comfortable arrangement. But if you’re okay with a simple setup (or having a camping mat or something like that), I’d be happy to host fellow travelers! I tend to study at university and go home kinda late, it could be difficult to host you for multiple days. Same day or one day before request would work better for me actually cuz I’m always spontaneous :) Nowadays I live with my girlfriend Nazuna in my flat. We enjoy hosting people! We’re always curious about food culture around the world,so if you can cook some cuisine from your country ,you’re more welcomed. We also can share some Japanese meal we cook,(Although I live in Germany, I cook and eat Japanese food every day:) not a big fan of food here..😂 When you request, please mention about your agreement of sleeping arrangement. I’m not a local, so if you’re looking for some local experiences, here’s NOT the place! My mission in 2025! Crossing Eurasia continent from China to Germany! My university life is a cycle of working multiple part-time jobs during the semester (I usually teach Japanese kids ^ ^) and spending all my earnings on travel during the holidays. (Trust me, I study too! Haha.) In 2025, I’ll be studying at the Technical University of Munich in Germany as an exchange student. Whenever I travel, my best and most memorable experiences have come from connecting with people through Couchsurfing. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of places and cultures. Likewise, I love giving travelers to Japan a truly local experience. That’s why I appreciate this community so much! 🙌 Let’s connect, share our cultures, thoughts, and experiences! I hope to meet as many people as possible through this amazing platform! For those sending me request in Japan! Please make sure I live in a small flat with sofa bed and you’ll sleep there!😆My place is well centered, around 8 min walk from Sapporo station. I only accept guests who’s into cultural exchange and having similar CS vibes!
I have lived in San Diego, U.S 🇺🇸for studying Sports Medicine for 5.5 years. Then back to Japan on June 2019, and then starting my private business/clinic in my hometown Fukuoka, Japan 🇯🇵 At the same time, I’m also starting Couchsurfing as host. I’m providing Integrative Medicine which is combinations between Eastern and Western Medicine👨⚕️ Of course I love sports (watch & play), and traveling too!! Cuba🇨🇺 and Indonesia 🇮🇩 are my best place of trip in my life so far. Also I’m glad to introduce my hometown Fukuoka, and home country Japan 🇯🇵 Please feel free to ask me questions if you have!!
Hi! I’m from Japan. I used to work as an accountant in Japan, but I quit my job and started my world trip on September 6, 2025. I traveled until February 2026, when I had to return to Japan because of family matters. Now, I’m back on the road! Since July 2026, my girlfriend , Yuka and I have been traveling together and are excited to continue this adventure. I just logged back into Couchsurfing after a while, and I was surprised to see how much the app’s UI has changed! I enjoy experiencing local life and trying traditional food wherever I go. I’m also very interested in learning about cultural differences in each country and sharing stories with people from around the world. I spent 9 months in Australia on a working holiday and 3 months in the Philippines studying English. I also love traveling and playing table tennis! As a guest, I’m easy-going, respectful, and always grateful for any kindness shared with me. One more thing: all of my references up to February 2026 are from when I was traveling solo. From now on, I’ll be traveling with my girlfriend, and we’re both looking forward to meeting wonderful hosts and sharing great experiences together. One of the things I love most about Couchsurfing is having the chance to talk with local people and learn more about their country. I enjoy discovering things I never knew before visiting and experiencing the culture in a much more personal and authentic way.

Important: I only accept one guest at a time. I travel abroad 4–5 times a year, so I am not in Fukuoka many dyas. Some days are blocked or already occupied by other guests. It’s a good idea tempt choose the day if is availablable then send me a private message before making a formal request. I was born in Guangdong, China, and have lived in Japan for almost 20 years. After obtaining my master's degree from Kyushu University, I began working in Fukuoka City. I now enjoy life in Fukuoka, especially talking with people from different backgrounds. My greatest passion is travelling; I can visit up to twenty countries in one year. (I'm never in Fukuoka during Japan's long holidays.) I particularly enjoy teaming up with strangers to rent cars for road trips, plan itineraries, and book accommodation. The anticipation of my next journey always fills me with excitement. Also i love ocen so much and i have a diving licience. I am into Japanese manga, TV games, and American movies. I often go to the cinema with my friends. As a kid, I was addicted to watching football matches and had been 2018 Russia and 2022 Qatar World cup. Hiking is also one of my hobbies, and I have conquered Mount Fuji. I am interested in museums and historical books (I hold 日本史と世界史2級). It's fun to explore unknown areas during my overseas travels. I often visit foreign bars to make new friends. One of the greatest pleasures is meeting people from all walks of life. I take Korean and Spanish lessons on Saturdays and teach Chinese to Japanese people on Sundays (I hold TOPIK5급DELE A2 Certificado). Volunteering as a guide for foreign tourists and at the Kyushu National Museum is my favorite side job (once a month). Currently, I am mainly in charge of Chinese translation for legal counseling at the Immigration Bureau. Although it is all unpaid volunteer service, I have met many Japanese friends who are as kind and sincere as I am. También, I am good at cooking Chinese-style dishes! Even if you have booked a stay, if you're interested on me , why not hang out?
Hello! My name is Tommy and I am a Canadian/Argentinean currently traveling around Japan for one year! I’ve been studying Japanese for around one year and would be happy to have opportunities to practice speaking while learning more about your culture and way of life!
I have retired completely and now spend my days gardening when the weather is fine and reading when it rains.
Hi thank you for clicking in our profile! We are a family of three and live near Fukuoka, Japan. Together with my wife Yuri and my son Ai, we value honesty and friendliness and would love to accommodate you. We are both dance teachers and while my wife dances house, I teach popping and am a tattoo artist as well. We enjoy having a good time filled with laughter, yoga sessions, hiking and watching movies. We speak English but really want to improve, so please don’t be shy even if you don’t speak Japanese well 😅 However, please not that we are not just a hotel for free accommodation, so consider planing in some time to spend with us and our son and also not being too noisy at night time as our son has to prepare for school. 🏫 our family looks forward to meeting you!
Hello, I'm Pidot! 🚀 I'm a Filipino living in Japan. I'm finishing my Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering at Kyushu University. Outside the university, I’m passionate about music, fitness, photo-videography, and of course, traveling. 🎶 About music, I’ve been singing, playing instruments, performing on stage since I was a kid. Recently, I do gigs around bars and events Fukuoka as a fun side hustle. In my free time, I post covers and my original songs online (though I'm not famous hahaha). 🏋 About fitness, I also love staying active—hiking, gym, cycling, swimming—but I’m equally down for bar-hopping, partying, or just staying indoors whole day hahaha 📸 About photo-videography, I enjoy documenting stories such as my own little adventures. I believe capturing a memory makes it last forever. I also work part time as multimedia science communicator in my university where I make research related content. 🏍️ Lastly, traveling. I believe traveling is more than just seeing new places, it's also about meeting new people and creating new experiences with them. I also work part time as a tour guide in Fukuoka. I like to immerse myself with people from different walks of life. 🌕 Cliche as it may sounds: At the end of the day, I'm still just a young man making it through his 20's. My greatest aspiration is to stay kind, true, and excellent in what I do. My lifelong goal is to give back to the people that led me to where I am now and to contribute in creating a better society for the next generation. Get to know me more here! Instagram: @pidoten
I love to know new things. I want to experience lots of fun things. Let's have fun together.
I’ll never know how to introduce myself, but here goes my attempt: August 2026 Update - Hey there! Lola here - still with the same name and the same energy, but now living in Japan! I moved to Japan at the start of July 2026 and will be based in Fukuoka at least until October, but looking forward to explore a lot more of the country too! I recently discovered that more than traveling, I enjoy living in different places - spend enough time in each place to connect with people and learn from them, find the beat of different places instead of just losing myself in a couple of streets while ignoring my itineraries. So that's what we are trying now! Little fact for this update - I'm a little bit of a nerd when it comes to language and culture (and how language shapes how we see the world) and education, so that's another thing I'm diving into at the moment! And with all of that, if you are up for any plans, exchanges or just a quick meet up please feel free to reach out! Currently in Fukuoka, but happy to move around too! Previous profile Info (2025) Hello hello! Lola over here - originally from Spain, living in London, but currently in a 5 months trip to Vietnam 😊 As everyone here I’m a HUGE fan of traveling and immersing myself in other cultures. I love wandering around, discover new places and trying new things. I’m a “why not? Let’s try it out!” kind of person unless heights are involved - I’m a bit scared of those! So always happy to join any plans and adventures (what better way to create great stories? 🙌🏼) Things I enjoy in my free time too - Volleyball (huge huge fan since I discovered it around 7 months ago), reading, dancing, writing short stories and learning new languages. I love food and eating, but I’m one of the worst cooks you’ll find. Go out for a coffee or a drink and more than anything: meet new people. Now I’ve told you a lot about things I like, but not that much about me… But I’ve been going on for a while and will be incredibly surprised if anyone has come this far, so I guess I can save everything else for when we meet 🙌🏼
