After a long hiatus, back on CS! Happy to host folks at my apartment in Providence. It's a small place without much privacy (just a single bed in the living room / kitchen area - see photos) but it works :) Happy to show you around, grab a beer or a tea, and include you in whatever I happen to be up to. I see couchsurfing as a springboard for new ideas, friendships, and impromptu adventures. It’s an opportunity to give without expectations and to accept things with the understanding that you'll one day pay it forward to someone down the road
I am a farmer, teacher, artist, and writer. I am passionate about agriculture, botany, ecology, community living, forestry, herbalism, meditation, hiking, cycling, poetry, storytelling, mental/emotional health, and traveling. I own a fruit and nut tree nursery (my website is mothertreenursery.org). I also work as a land stewardship coordinator for a nonprofit farm that focuses on education and conservation near Boston, Massachusetts. I've lived all across the United States working and learning on permaculture farms and agroforestry orchards. I've lived in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Washington state, Iowa, Missouri, and North Carolina. I traveled the U.S. by bicycle for nine months during 2017-2018, from NYC to Florida to California, and made a documentary about the experience. I volunteered on organic farms and intentional communities through WWOOF, wild camped, and stayed with Couchsurfing hosts from Virginia to California. I grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, then studied creative writing and mechanical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. I've made various films, books, and love photography. I am a very neat and respectful guest, always willing to cook, clean, build, teach, learn, and help out in any way possible.
I don't host cigarette smokers* **feel free to send requests in advance, but I generally "soft confirm" about a week out, and I prefer to not do a hard confirm until day of. Especially in the summer. I know this is unusual, but I have a lot of friends and a very active social life, and I like to be free for last minute camping trips and things like that. https://blog.couchsurfing.com/the-7-deadly-sins-of-couchsurfing/ ^please do not message me if you haven't read the above link, don't care to address me by name, or if you think couchsurfing is just "free Airbnb". I have been surfing/hosting for over a decade now, and I generally make an effort (when traveling) to be a conscientious guest by helping with dishes, bringing a gift, or making a meal, and I really appreciate surfers who show the same courtesy to me. If you've read my profile, then in your couchsurfing request, tell me about what language you would learn if you could magically become fluent in any language. Hello all! I am a native Rhode Islander, but I've also lived in Ohio, NYC, Puerto Rico, India, Malaysia, Palestine, and Israel. Here in Rhode Island, I am active both with the couchsurfing community and with the Fulbright community in my home state. I enjoy hosting couchsurfers, introducing them to my community and family, and sharing the joy of cultural exchange with new people. In my free time, I love bike rides, dancing, and throwing parties. There's a high likelihood of being invited to join me for those activities :) I do nearly all of my personal transportation by bike, and love to share the joy of bicycles with my guests. If you're lucky, you'll even get to attend a Providence Bike Jam while youre here! I quite enjoy hosting and have a lot to share with my surfers. I have extra bicycles, a kayak, sporting equipment, all of which I love to share, and also tend to invite surfers to join me for dancing on Wednesdays. Ahorita, especialmente quiero invitar couchsurfers quien puedan ayudarme con mi español!
Harvard grad, antique dealer-- commercial drone pilot I have Asperger’s, but once you get past that and start knowing me, you’ll find an inner world like no other that I have to share with you.... Looking for a good friend, passionate lover, and ideally my life partner.

I am a teacher/artist who formerly worked in the public health field. I like to spend my time writing, exploring, sketching, playing music, playing soccer, biking, reading, watching sports. I also love dogs, and try to spend as much time around them as possible.
Hello! I'm in my last year of medical school looking to travel around while I interview for residencies. Will be looking for a place to stay in RI for September :)
Our home is full of joyful chaos with my wife, myself, her three magnificent kids (who are often away at college), and our friendly dog. This place has lots of enthusiasm for women's soccer, social justice, Formula 1, travel, piano music, our swimming pool, and a few too many old convertibles. I am active with several non-profits that focus on social justice, orchestral music, and collector cars.
CURRENT MISSION Better understanding the world ABOUT ME I'm a quiet, curious traveler who genuinely believes the best part of any place is the people in it — not the top-rated restaurant or the landmark everyone photographs. By day I'm a law student and former environmental nonprofit founder with about a decade of professional experience across China, Connecticut, and everywhere in between. On the road, that all falls away. I'm just someone who wants to hike something steep, cook something local, and have a real conversation over dinner. I travel slowly and intentionally. I'm not checking countries off a list: I'm trying to understand how people live. What they eat on a Tuesday. What they're proud of, what they're worried about. That's the stuff I remember. I'm tidy, self-sufficient, and genuinely low-maintenance. I'll be out early and grateful when I'm back. PHILOSOPHY and in the end it's the life in your years that count, not the years. (Abe Lincoln)
Gal raised on the East Coast. I'm passionate about all things outdoors - from gardening, foraging, and farming to swimming, cycling, and hiking
I am outgoing and like the outdoors, art, photography, and music. I have been taking singing classes for 10 years, and love to learn new songs from various countries. Favorite winter sports: snowboarding, snowshoeing and running. Hobbies: reading, diving, panorama photography
CURRENT MISSION To live life to the fullest, experience everything that the world has to offer, and to travel around the world by bicycle and sailboat ABOUT ME I grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, and am addicted to travel. However, I always seem to come back no matter how far I go and for how long. It's like I have some sort of magnetic pull bringing me back to my hometown. My dream is to bike across all the continents and sail across the oceans, circumnavigating without using any fossil fuel for transportation - but I'm afraid I would be lonely and miss my friends if I went alone. So...I need to make friends who want to do this with me! I play trombone in the band, Undertow Brass Band, based in Providence. We usually go on tour for one to two weeks every summer. I also can play piano, trumpet and drums, but I am really out of practice! I run marathons and triathlons, and am trying to run a marathon in each state by the time I'm 50. Update: I actually haven't run a marathon since 2014 because of a hip injury, but I do hope to gradually work my way back up to this distance again without hurting myself. I would love to be able to speak more languages fluently and communicate with more people easily. I love both the mountains and the ocean, and mountain biking through the woods is one of my favorite activities currently. I would love to find a place to live that combines all of these features, maybe open a mountain biking hostel/rental company on the edge of a trail system where you can either climb several thousand feet up into the mountains or descend down to a private beach. I'm never on time for anything...I'm always at least 15 minutes late to work, and I'm even late at leaving work! I'm very laid back and enjoy taking my time (especially with eating). However, when I'm running or biking or walking anywhere I usually go as fast as I can (probably because I'm always running late) PHILOSOPHY Life shouldn't be wasted on boring jobs just to make money. It should be as enjoyable of an experience as possible, and if you really want to, you can make things happen without money. I want to live my life as if it were going to be turned into a book or movie - I don't want it to be a boring story! Since you never know what's going to happen, I think you should take advantage of situations that turn up when they happen instead of waiting for some time in the future. If you wait, it will probably never happen.
Love to have some good laughs and good food!
