Hi, I’m Yao 👋 from Kaohsiung, Taiwan — now living in Turkey! I’m an online Chinese tutor and also work with Greenpeace. After years of hosting in Taiwan, I’ve started a new chapter of my life here in Turkey with my wife. Since 2019, I’ve hosted over 240 surfers from all around the world and built so many meaningful friendships. Hosting has been one of the most unforgettable adventures of my life — it truly shaped who I am today. People often say I’m simple and genuine. I enjoy small things like cooking Taiwanese food, chatting about culture, exploring local markets, or just having relaxed conversations over tea. I don’t need fancy things — I just enjoy sharing life in an honest and easygoing way. Now in Turkey, my home is a mix of Taiwanese warmth and Turkish life. Sometimes we cook together, sometimes we share music or deep late-night talks. I believe Couchsurfing isn’t just about a place to stay — it’s about connection, trust, and creating memories together.
