Hello, I'm Benji from Portland. My family name is Bao although that's really only used at home with family. Couchsurfing has had a major influence on my life. The nomadic and giving community is what I appreciate the most about it. I have not been able to travel as much as I would like to, but I enjoy sharing moments with other travellers in my hometown and return the generosity I was shown when I lived abroad. I have always enjoyed sharing cultures and spending time with various communities so I choose to actively stay engage within my capacity. I will usually be willing to show my couchsurfers around my hometown and take people to unique and harder-to-reach destinations so they can get a fuller experience of the true spirit of Portland. I first started using Couchsurfing as an alternative means to travel when I was studying abroad in Barcelona. Over the years, I've met amazing people who have brought me around the globe and back which has then forged friendships lasting a lifetime with people I deeply care about. I believe it creates a more understanding and peaceful world. This is how I use Couchsurfing.
I am Software Developer who is passionate about soccer. I like to indulge in outdoor activities and different cuisines. Also a part time Yoga instructor.

CURRENT MISSION Impossible ABOUT ME !!!IMPORTANT!!! Do not message me if you are moving to Portland, I don't want you in my house and I will avoid you if you move here.!!!IMPORTANT!!! I am a native Oregonian. I drink a shitload (I'm drunk right now), sometimes to the point of becoming offensive but I don't mean it.I wake up early, even on weekends and my close friends hate me for it (I promise I won't bother you though). I understand British sarcasm. I don't care about your religious or political views, not from an open minded "everyone should believe what they want" point of view but from a closed minded "no really, I don't give a shit" point of view. I am not an artist, vegan or yoga dancer and I don't own a bike (actually I just bought a second car). I don't grasp the concept of what "down to earth" means. I shave, wash and use toilet paper routinely. To White people with dread locks; whatever the question, the answer is no. I am not opposed to getting a tattoo but I doubt I ever will. I think theft is worse than murder. Actually it goes 1)Rape 2)Theft 3)Murder (for when I write the 10 Commandments). I've never ended a phone call by saying 'PEACE'. I know a tiny bit of Spanish and French, not enough to hold a conversation but enough for general communication. Other than that I'm a pretty decent chap. PHILOSOPHY Life is improvisation

I describe myself as a nomad and an explorer. I've lived in 7 countries, bilingual (and in the process of learning more languages) and travelled to 30+ countries. Right now, I have moved into a van and have been living the digital nomad life. I can't wait to meet you and share some stories and experiences with you. I can probably host you if you're OK with sharing a sleeping surface. Due to the fact the am a nomad and move around a lot, I can only accept short notice requests and only for a night or two. PS: Please reference the fact that I live in a van in your request so I know you've actually read my profile.
----------------------- ATTENTION: I have been receiving a massive influx of friend requests from people I do not know. Please understand that I do not treat this like Facebook; I only add people that I have met in real life. Thanks! —————————— I recently moved to Portland, OR for work. I am adjusting to the Pacific Northwest, but for better or worse, will always be a Californian at heart. I try to be as active on CS as I can be. I am almost always on the Hangouts portion of the app, and I have hosted a couple of events. I love traveling and made the rash decision to move to Germany after visiting there for only a few weeks. I was an Au-Pair in a tiny German village, and the experience completely changed my life. I learned a lot about different cultures, languages and people. The experience helped me grow as a person, and steered my life into a course I would have never expected. Traveling is now a part of my DNA and I have made it my goal to meet as many people and see as much of the world as I can. I have been a member of the Couchsurfing community for quite a few years and have seen its evolution, especially post pandmenic. I don't agree with the direction the company is headed, but the enduring spirit of CS and it's members are why I stick around.
CURRENT MISSION To be a great host and a pleasant guest. ABOUT ME I like hiking, the mountains, riding my bike, literature. I play the guitar and draw a little bit, and I also enjoy hosting travelers! PHILOSOPHY Go find out yourself. Listen to people with whom you disagree. Keep going beyond what you thought was 'you.'
I don't care about our condition I can’t control I don’t care about the problem, I care about the solution. I’m in vibrational alignment with solution I care about being an extension of source I care about what feels good. If you can understand the book by Abraham Hicks and his teachings, you will be able to understand more about my personality and life. You will become more attuned to my frequency and vibrations, and benefit from my positive and joyful energy in your life…. I am an Iranian who was an electrical power engineer in Iran, and I live in the United States. Studying and living in the United States was a childhood dream of mine. I don’t remember exactly, maybe I was six or ten years old. Over time, this dream seemed unattainable until I became familiar with Abraham Hicks’ books. Through them, I learned to harness my inner energy to fulfill my childhood dream. I came to believe that anything impossible can become possible and attainable if we have faith and hope, just like the inventor of the airplane. What was once just an idea in someone’s mind is now a reality. I had a profile eight years ago and was very active, hosting five times for guests from France, Switzerland, Germany, and Russia. Back then, it was free. I was living in Istanbul at the time, and when Couchsurfing's policy changed, my account was deleted due to several years of inactivity and my move to the USA. So now I'm starting from scratch. Instagram: @Fojohnf
Working currently as an ICU nurse. Newest addition to my set of degrees. I will host only surfers who have payed for their Verification profiles. It is only fair to support this network of amazing travelers. If you don't have enough reviews from people you have hosted or stayed with it will be appropriate to have Facebook to check your identity. As a traveler and explorer I felt that I should belong to this community of fun travelers. I am a young professional who likes to travel and take photos. I like to meet new people and share stories. I love every season and every activity, from cold to hot. I use to be search and rescue unit for the Red cross ski patrol. I have been a lifeguard. I do yoga and make attempts to work on myself. I believe by traveling, changing locations and exposing my self to different cultures I understand others better and I become a better human.
Unavailable to host: August 9-22, 2026. I’m Rissa, she/her! Portland born, lover of slower paced outdoorsy activities. I’ve traveled all over, but have lots to explore in my own backyard and around the US. I strive to create a comfortable environment for people of all identities, backgrounds, and marginalized groups. ✊🏻🖤🤎🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
