Hi I'm Alexis I grew up in Washington State, U.S. and have a deep connection to the Pacific Northwest. I love being outside in nature especially hiking or swimming. I enjoy practicing mindfulness through journaling, breathwork, yoga, creating art, and living intentionally. I'm a lifelong learner, nearing the end of my undergraduate university journey and I'm seeking education outside of academia. I study political science and German, and my current and person intellectual interest is linguistic anthropology. It would warm my heart if you shared your favorite music, recipes, activities, books, and phrases with me. I am focused on bettering my German language skills currently, and I intend to do this through travel and immersion. I have experience with work exchanges in Germany and Austria and love the social aspect of living together and working as a team. I'm looking forward to connecting with people and seeing how we can help each other out :)
ABOUT ME: I would say my best trait is that I’m a wholehearted lover (ie passionate!) 😍 and my worst trait is that I’m a little impulsive. 😈 I absolutely love people and getting to know people. I’m Swiss American raised in Altadena, CA outside of Los Angeles. My family’s home is in Altadena but I spend a lot of time in Bellingham to visit my 3 girls.
Hey there! I am a student from an undergraduate political science program in Russia. Currently I am taking the summer semester classes at American college and traveling through the US! Besides exploring the world, I am interested in social and political sciences, gaming, music, languages, and just learning new things!
Updated June 2026: We are now able to host travelers in Bellingham. I'm a biologist and gardener. I love flowers, trees, mushrooms, animals, and mountainous wild places - but also feel at home in cities of all sizes. I read books and grow native plants, aromatic herbs, and fragrant flowers. I draw, paint, play various musical instruments, and write as well. I love to cook, especially for dinner parties and picnics. For five years I worked for a nursery specializing in rare and unusual fruit and nut trees. Previously I’ve worked as a boat deckhand, bartender, carpenter, backcountry naturalist, and tree planter, among other jobs. My partner Lauren (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/laurenolean) and I spent the year 2025 traveling around the world. Now we live in a small house in Bellingham and are looking forward to meeting travelers from all over the world. Hablamos español (más or menos bien). https://www.inaturalist.org/people/yossarianc

CURRENT MISSION To get back on the road ABOUT ME I’ve traveled a ton. I live here with my Colombian partner Camila. When I’m here in the US, come visit on the way to and from Alaska/Canada as we live a mile from the Alaska Ferry. I have renovated our cool space and have plenty of room. Amazing garden, solar panel array, rainwater catchment system, cob oven. Just off Chuckanut Dr. so good for bikers! I have kayaks and you can walk them down to the bay to paddle in 5 minutes at high tide. I have a crab pot too so in July there’s crabbing! We love having visitors and when we do, we treat them well, especially those from other countries. Please do me a favor and give some advance notice. You will enjoy my tranquil (yet fun!) abode. I have finished my grad degree in Energy, Environment and Society in 2010. My interest is in microfinance and rural green energy in developing countries. I took half my 30's off for travel and school. My how time flies. My heart will always be in the Himalayas, but The Lost Coast in Humboldt is up there. Now I am exploring the real Northwest when here. You can see my buddy Namche in the pics. She is gone now and my life will never be the same...Don't know why it still hurts so much. I love dogs as visitors! I play the harmonica and am slowly improving. Learning guitar. Hoping to hook up with more here in Bellingham. If you are decent at the guitar, especially the blues, I can play along. PHILOSOPHY Searching, searching, searching. Connections, relationships, seeking joy. Golden Rule. I wrote a book in 2025 called “Chasing my 20s”

I recently learned to weld. PHILOSOPHY everybody has a story, learning them is enriching.
CURRENT MISSION to know the world and those who live in it, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly.... to live, laugh, and love and share the enduring, eternal love of Jesus Christ with all those I come in contact with ABOUT ME I am me... you'll have to decide for yourself what you think PHILOSOPHY In process, always in process

CURRENT MISSION Changing ~ Learning ~ Living ABOUT US *** IF WE HAVE NOT MET YOU IN REAL LIFE, PLEASE DO NOT SEND A FRIEND REQUEST *** Unfortunately we are not receiving guests right now. We both lived internationally and traveled a lot when we were younger (UK, US, Canada, Japan). We want our son to consider himself a world citizen, as we do. We try live sustainably. We have a feisty rat terrier. We are together a lot as a family; our kid is super cool and polite to guests. But not one to hang out with if you think children should be seen and not heard. :) PHILOSOPHY "LIVE! Life is a banquet and most poor sons-of-bitches are starving to death!" ~ Auntie Mame "there's a dance in the old dame yet" ~ Mehitabel
