CURRENT MISSION Happy to learn about other people's cultures and happy to share our home. ABOUT ME Jeff is a retired US Forest Service Fire Captain and an all around great guy who can do anything (this unbiased statement was written by his wife, Denise =). Denise is an online, public-school teacher for students aged 5 to 18, who also works with at-risk teens as a 'Strengths-Based Educational Director.' Our teen & young adult sons/daughters are really cool people too. Our family includes runners, a chess lover, an EMT, church goers, UCLA alumni, ping pong players, vegetarians, meat-eaters, people who cancel out each other's votes and still love each other, snowboarders and more terrific people. PHILOSOPHY We want to live our lives to love God and love the people He puts in our path. Matthew 6:33 says it all.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING Jeff and Denise love this community and are always ready to dive in. We are excited about the spirit of the CS community! COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Jeff has traveled all over the USA -including Alaska, usually sleeping in a tent, while fighting fires in the National Forests for over 25 years! He has traveled to Russia, Australia & Scotland. Denise has traveled to Jamaica, the Caribbean islands, Mexico, Hawaii and many USA states. She also lived in Japan while teaching English.

Jeff's Movies: Action-Adventure type...and John Wayne films. Denise's Movies: Life is Beautiful; Les Miserable (with Liam Neeson). Fireproof. The Blind Side. Jeff's Books: The Bible; Four Souls; anything by Max Lucado. Denise's Books: Anything by Philip Yancey...and so, so many more! I am always reading several books at one time. Jeff and Denise's Music: Ecclectic but if it's instrumental and music on a wood flute or cello - we really love it!

Denise: I love teaching children -- and inspiring other teachers to help students find and utilize their strengths. I'm good at helping people explore their college and educational options. I make delicious homemade bread, and know about health, nutrition and alternative medicine. Jeff: I am willing to show anyone who wants to learn how to work with tools, how to do CPR, the essentials of backpacking and wilderness survival, and how to make a great barbeque.
