Traveled for three years.

What got me through my first backpacking experience was discovering the following: Its going to be ok. Once while lost, alone, penniless and in a dangerous part of Rome in the middle of the night I came to the conclusion that soon the sun would rise and I would be okay. The most important part of traveling is assuring that first- you don't get into situations like that, and second- that if everything starts going wrong to stay calm, the morning will come.
