At first, I was a little nervous about using Couchsurfing because I had never tried it before but I’ve had such beautiful experiences so far. Traveling solo is beautiful, but it can also be challenging at times especially as a woman. For me, connecting with trustworthy, kind locals is incredibly valuable. It helps me feel safe, supported, and accompanied in moments where I might otherwise feel vulnerable. Sometimes, being alone can attract unwanted attention I’ve had some uncomfortable experiences in public, simply for standing out or being friendly. That’s why I really appreciate hosts who offer not just a place to stay, but a respectful and safe energy. It makes all the difference in how I experience a place. Another reason I’m using Couchsurfing is because I want to improve my English and immerse myself in new cultures, not just as a tourist, but by experiencing places through the eyes of local people.
