Greetings! I'm new to couchsurfing, but eager to meet new people as I visit Europe for the first time ever this January. I'm a writer and journalist always trying to learn more about the world around me. At home I work as a freelancer/publicist for a music venue, and reporter for a local newspaper, so I'm always meeting interesting people in my community. I love the rural area where I live but have not traveled extensively outside the U.S.... yet! My other hobbies include flea markets, long hikes, good beer and bike rides. Please tell me about your favorite places, things to do, and things you've learned . I ask a lot of questions. Open to any and all types of live music recommendations.

Почему я на Couchsurfing
In January I will be travelling from NYC to Amsterdam, Amman and Barcelona with my partner, Jared. We're staying with family for half of the trip, but spending Dec 31-Jan 7 in the Netherlands and looking for ways to make new friends while exploring the country for the first time. (We know its New Years' Eve, we don't party hard, this was just the cheapest flight we could find!)
Музыка, кино и книги
Books/authors: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Arundhati Roy, Jack London, Music: Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Florence and the Machine, the Clash, Talking Heads, Courtney Barnett, Jack White Movies: The Breakfast Club, My Cousin Vinny, The Big Short, Gangs of New York
Одно удивительное, что я сделал
I once spent a summer working for a scuba diving shop in San Francisco. Kelp diving was wild!
Учить, учиться, делиться
I can talk to you about investigative journalism, documentaries, scuba diving, and music. Between the two of us, Jared and I could take some fairly professional-looking photographs or headshots for you. I'd love to learn some Dutch in order to communicate somewhat with local people in their own language. Let's exchange recipes? Or does your band want to play a show in western Massachusetts? I might be able to help!
Что я могу предложить хостам
For anyone willing to host us, we'd be more than happy to invite you to our home in Leverett. But if you're not travelling to New England anytime soon, I can offer help in your home with cooking or cleaning, pet care, house-sitting, plant watering and keeping good company. Jared and I are quiet and respectful of any curfews, and willing to work around your schedule if that means going to bed early or staying out most of the day. Leverett is a good home base for a peaceful New England retreat, and a perfect pit stop for anyone thru hiking the New England Trail. There are five colleges in the area (and a GREAT basement music scene-- just ask us!), rivers, amazing hikes, camping, waterfalls and swimming holes. We live a few miles from the New England Peace Pagoda (see photos). Summer/Fall is the best time to visit with the foliage and abundance of locally sourced food.
