I'm Shams born in Egypt grew up in Austria. currently living in Rwanda. I’m interested in politics, business development, diplomacy, International law, geology, sports, dance, theatre, culture and more. I love learning about different cultures, and meeting nice people from all over the world. I love dancing, I can dance a little Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Rumba, Cha cha, Tango, Merengue and open to learning more dances. I love jazz, afro latin and pop as well I like experiencing new things and trying new cuisines from everywhere and each country i visit. J’aime les voyages qui sortent du programme prévu, les discussions qui durent plus longtemps que prévu et les rencontres improbables. Je vis de ma passion, j’aime courir, découvrir de nouvelles cultures et profiter des petits moments qui rendent un voyage mémorable. Si tu es à Kigali dans les mêmes dates, on peut toujours commencer par un verre et voir où la soirée nous emmène.

CURRENT MISSION Relocated to Kigali, Rwanda. Will be here for a few years. ABOUT ME Hello. I am a 52 year old man from Ottawa, Canada. I am a high school teacher. I have lived in various countries, including Japan, Ecuador, Scotland, Swaziland, Israel and the Marshall Islands. I would like to keep seeing the world, but in a stay-and-travel sense. I walked the Camino in September 2023 (the Camino Frances- 790km). I took the year off. That was a full year of adventure! I rarely have a glass of wine. I definitely don't smoke. I try to be a role-model for my students. PHILOSOPHY I believe that people are generally good, and except for a few bad apples, most of us are just trying to learn a little more about the rest of us. My personal motto is 十人十色 (ju nin to iro), which translates literally to ten people ten colours. It can mean a lot of things, but for me, it means that we are all living on the same planet and though we may all disagree, we need to figure out a way to co-exist. There is strength in diversity.

I am a simple man who believes life is meant to be lived, not merely watched from the sidelines. I enjoy good company, meaningful conversations, spontaneous adventures, road trips, hiking, jogging, cooking, and discovering new places and people. I am naturally social and I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, sharing a drink, having a laugh, and talking about life, ideas, experiences and everything in between. I value genuine friendships, loyalty, respect and people who can be themselves without pretending. I enjoy the energy of a good crowd, but I also appreciate my own company and the peace that comes with walking my own path. I am an adventurous spirit at heart. Whether it is a Saturday hash, a long drive, a new trail, a late night conversation or simply sitting down with good people, I believe the best memories are often made in the simplest moments. Life has taught me that not everyone is meant to stay, and that is okay. I would rather have a few genuine people around me than a crowd without substance. Still curious. Still exploring. Still laughing. Still living. That is me.
