My journey to a life of travel took a slightly unconventional route. I actually graduated from finance school and the CFA Institute, and spent 13 years building a career in banks, the stock market, and investment banking. But everything changed when I took a 20-day solo backpacking trip to Iran using Couchsurfing. That experience completely altered the trajectory of my life. I wrote a book about the journey (Couch Traverler in IRAN), it became successful, and I discovered a deep passion for storytelling. I quickly realized I could no longer be an employee waiting around for a couple of weeks of vacation each year. In 2015, I saved up my money, quit my corporate job, and spent the next four years traveling the world. Along the way, I began sharing my stories online and built a social media community of over 1 million followers. Like any new venture, it came with its struggles, but it eventually grew into a massive success and now serves as the main sponsor for my travels. For a few years, building the business and scouting new destinations for group trips consumed all my time, so I had to step away from hosting and surfing. Now that the agency is established, I’ve finally regained my freedom, and I am thrilled to be back in the Couchsurfing community where it all started! These days, my life is on the road. I am currently overlanding in my customized 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser, "Battuta." I am spending this year exploring Europe, with big plans to take on Africa, Asia, and Latin America in the coming years.
