I'm an easy going, simple and down to earth gentleman with great sense of humor. I’m laid back, love travelling and meeting people. I'm honest, trustworthy and ready to embark on around the world mission, possibly stepping my foot in every city on earth.
NOT HOSTING AT THE MOMENT! (travelling myself in SEP/OCT 2026) My home is within a walking distance from Helsinki city centre and from most passenger ports. It's particularly convenient for those travelling by ferries: arriving late in the night or leaving early in the morning is not a problem. SMALL HOME BUT CENTRAL LOCATION My home is not a fancy one. It is small and certainly in need of renovation but it is centrally located and should be convenient for guests who are more into exploring the city and its vicinity than spending much time at home. Due to the limited space, it is easiest to host just one guest at the time but occasionally I can host 2 or even 3 guests for 2–3 nights. LAST-MINUTE REQUESTS WELCOME I host a lot but not as much as I used to before. As I live close to the centre of a capital city, I get a lot more requests than I can accept, particularly during the summer season. Therefore, I have to decline many (at times most) even if there is nothing wrong with the request or with the guest. So don't take it personally if I have to decline yours. But please keep it simple. Be as exact with the dates and times as you can, say a few words about your purpose of travelling to Helsinki, and if you travel with someone tell something about them. Don't write long essays: if the dates match, I can read your profile and references (if you have them but I also host newbies who don't have any references yet). Last-minute requests are fine (actually, I prefer them). Pets are welcome. GOOD PUBLIC TRANSPOT It is about a 2-km walk from the railway and bus stations and 2-3,5 km from most passenger ferry ports to my home. The closest tramway stop is MUNKKISAARI (tram 6). I LIKE INDEPENDENT GUESTS I like independent guests who come in the evening and leave in the morning, and use the daytime to explore the city and its vicinity (like the national parks of Nuuksio and Sipoonkorpi). We can then change experiences over a cup of tea or a glass of beer or wine in the evening, maybe have a dinner together. Sometimes, however, it is also nice to have guests who want some activity with the host (city walk, public sauna, small hike in a national park, beer in the park, visiting some musea, etc.) if I have time and if the guest is interested in such. CHANGES ARE FINE, JUST KEEP ME INFORMED I am flexible with changes. I have hosted a lot and I am used to guests changing plans even last minute. So if you need to cancel or change your dates it usually isn't any problem for me (if the new dates just fit in my schedule). What I don't like, however, when the guests don't communicate properly: changing plans is completely fine but please keep me updated. SOME ADDITIONAL INFO I am Christian (Lutheran) but guests can be of any denomination or religion or of none at all. I will not proselytise and I hope that you will neither. LGBTQ (or any other letter) people welcome: I may not always be up to date with all the vocabulary but I am friendly to everybody. I particularly enjoy hosting couchsurfers who have not travelled a lot yet because they often have more fresh views of Helsinki than those more experienced travellers who find a Nordic capital city rather boring after all the exotic places that they have been to (they don't say it but I can see it). However, those more seasoned travellers who also host themselves can be considered an exception because sometimes it is nice to change some experience with other hosts. In the winter I often host guests at my equally small home in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife (Canary Islands). When you write a reference after your stay: If you tell something about my home, please mention whether you stayed with me in Helsinki or in Puerto de la Cruz. That way it is much more helpful to other surfers. If the reference is just about me as a person, then it doesn't matter.
The nitty-gritty checklist: - Passionate about helping others - I live and let live - Incurably curious - Loyal friend - Fiercely independent Life philosophy: A laid-back absurdist. I believe life doesn't come with any inherent meaning, and that's what gives me peace. In my view there is no "right way" to live, so we are free from the pressure to follow a predetermined path. In my view this perspective allows us to give life our own meaning and purpose, whether it's chasing our dreams, seizing every moment or just taking things as they come - without stepping over anyone in the process of course.
CURRENT MISSION To host someone from Greenland. ABOUT ME I can host you for one or two nights. Maybe we will find activities that that we can do together, like going for a sauna and a swim by the sea, a hike in a natural park, attending a gig, having a drink , or cooking together and having a conversation at home. ***Before sending me a request, or if you are considering to accept my invitation, please read the "Read more"/"My Home" section of my profile. If you do not read that section I will most likely not accept your request.***

You can call me Sep. I have also had this obsession to keep the number of countries I have visited larger than the number of years I have lived. So far, I have been to 57 countries and I have lived in this world for 46 years. This goal in life makes no sense, of course. But I don't think it's particularly less valuable than other potential life meanings, such as having a child or getting rich. I am grateful for already having this option to travel. When I was travelling in South East Asia, there were many moments that I felt like a heavy arrogant rich middle-aged traveller. This made me feel bad. But there are some particulars you cannot change in life. For example, I cannot be in my 20s anymore. That option has long been off the table. I can still try to be less "heavy", which explains why I always lose weight when travelling, and eat only one meal per day. I have always tried to break out of the box. Sometimes I have succeeded, sometimes I have not. I am a Finnish Iranian citizen, currently living in Helsinki, Finland. WHY DO I TRAVEL? I mainly travel to see people, not monuments and museums. However, at the end of the journey, I may as well have seen them both! I don't like labeled tourist attractions. For example, in Paris, the Eiffel Tower is the last on my list of priorities. I love traveling, and adventures of all types. When I travel, my main objective is learning and experiencing local things, in a such a profound way that I can become autonomous like a genuine local. I am NOT interested in touristy hotspots. Instead, I prefer local cafes out of the city centers. I like trying local food and drinks, also learning about them by reading their pages on Wikipedia. I keep repeating their names and, if funding allows, repeating tasting them so many times that when I am gone back, I can remember names of meals, pastries, beers, etc for the rest of my life. I also tend to go to the outskirts of cities and, if at all available, even less fortunate districts. For example, if I am in Brazil, seeing a favela is a must. I know the risks, but I also know why I travel. HOW DO I TRAVEL? I do a bit of research before hitting the road. Until recently, I have also grabbed a Lonely Planet travel guidebook to look through in advance. After arriving in the city, I start exploring, usually by choosing a less advertised district, walking though its lanes, choosing different cafes, parks, pubs, etc, having a drink or two, and learning them. I need to learn the areas so I can enjoy my exploration. I make places those of my own by bookmarking them on my Google Maps, and writing a few words in a private note about them. Then, I look for locals on CS. My best of feelings are achieved when I have made a friend or two though CS before I am gone. WHO AM I? I am originally from Isfahan, Iran where I was born, brought up, and spent the first 23 years of my life. Then, I moved to Tehran, where I lived for about 10 years. I also lived, and worked as an English teacher in Turkey's Istanbul in 2010. In 2014, I moved to Finland as a student, and have been living in Oulu and Helsinki ever since except for one semester in 2016 when I lived in Edmonton Canada. I am now a Finn, too. I understand that many people would tend not to accept me as a Finn, due to where I was born, due to my limited Finnish language skills, and due to how I look. I wouldn't disagree with them. I don't consider myself a real Finn, either. The most important years in my upbringing occurred in Iran. As of 2024, I still have stronger roots in Iran than I do in Finland although I can hardly consider myself a true Iranian, either. I'm neither this nor that, or both this and that. Travelling itself has made me a global citizen. So, in addition to being a fake Finn and a fake Iranian, I am a fake citizen of the world as well. PHILOSOPHY: I live to experience and learn.
I still believe that we can easily trust and be trusted by people. It’s lovely to host ppl who enjoy sharing experiences, stories and getting to know the other cultures. I Am Not A Hotel but a FRIEND you might get 😊
I am Finnish, like to travel around the world, close and faraway countries. I love meeting people from all over the world. I wanna hear your stories about life and travel experiences! I live close to Helsinki centre (8 km, 13 mins by train). Area is peaceful, like "countryside in Helsinki". I am very easy going and humorous. I love yoga, cycling, running and other outdoors, swimming (also winter swimming), and sauna of cource, good food and wine, photoshooting and all kind of cultural activities. I'm excited to experience new cultures and meet people all over the workd as well as feel the local way of living and I love to visit also the local secret and hidden spots. I am currenty working with my own business as a Wellness Coach and an artist. For me it's all about Cacao and Africa: i.e. Cacao Seremonies; Cacao Photo Art and SFT energy healing.
Living all over the world. I love meeting new people around the world and I think couch surfing is also a great tool for that. I work as a personal trainer, coach wrestling and martial arts. Lived most of my life around the world (North America, Asia, Europe) because of the sports and work. At the moment I travel quite spontaneous to new places and try to explore the countries where I have not been yet. If you are from a country where I have yet not been and can host or meet, feel free to contact me anytime and I am interested and curious to visit your country.
I am fairly busy with new job and motorbiking season is approaching in Finland. Whenever I find the time I try to login here to check for messages so please do not expect a quick response from me. For best results your request should be 1-3 days and not too far into the future. I do not plan my goings too far into the future and usually know my schedule for 1-2 weeks in advance. Also having some references and verifications in your profile is a plus. --- I’m a friendly, respectful, easygoing person and happy with little. Small things make life better and I look at life positively. When traveling I prefer to meet locals, learn, exchange information and also learn new things about myself 👍
No bio yet, probably off exploring
I’m Head of Design at a tech company in Helsinki, with a background in space, design, photography and filmmaking. I spend my days creating things, solving problems and turning ideas into something people can actually see and feel. Outside of work, I’m curious about people. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, discovering different perspectives and expanding my circle with people who make life a little more interesting. I’m naturally positive, energetic and a little crazy in the right company. I laugh a lot, love spontaneous plans and don’t take life too seriously. Music is a big part of my life, it’s my escape, my therapy and, occasionally, the reason I end up dancing when I probably shouldn’t. Coffee, a drink, a photo walk, good food, a random adventure… I’m pretty easy to convince. Come say hi.
I consider myself a social, curious and open-minded person, with lots of energy. I get excited super easily, and express myself and my emotions to the fullest. I love to talk about so many different things, but especially about psychology, philosophy and just life. I really like to play board games and design experiences for people.
