Originally from New Zealand, I grew up in northern China, and I like to think of Thailand as home. (but really I have no idea) After living in 5 countries in the last few years I've temporarily settled in beautiful Hobart, Tasmania! I travelled the world full time as an artist, and now I work here as a travel advisor... biding my time until I can once again live as a vagabond
I'm a healer, expedition leader, paragliding pilot, cook, musician, sailor, herbalist, business owner, and I'm mum to my beautiful and very sociable 5-year-old. I prefer to travel by cycling, sailing, kayaking, rafting, hitchhiking, paragliding, carpooling and public transport. I grew up in Tasmania and I arrived back here after slowly travelling around the world for almost 7 years. And back to the present moment, wherever I am - travelling or not - I'd love to meet up with you and share some laughter or share some deep discussions or both! It's such an amazing world we have at our feet, and we have such a lot to see and learn from right where we are standing.
CURRENT MISSION A peaceful and happy existence enjoying work, loving my children and making friends. ABOUT ME I live in an old house on a couple of acres at Austins Ferry, I am happy for people to stay overnight, you can stay in a sunny verandah room. The property has a stream and fruit trees PHILOSOPHY I try to remain willing to share good things to prevent becoming too attached. It seems to work :)
If you want to stay with us please READ OUR ENTIRE PROFILE including this section and the section below “View Home”. We (Leanne and Paul) have lived in Tasmania since 1993 and have three young adult sons all in the process of moving on to other adventures away from home. Take a look at this YouTube clip about Tas https://youtu.be/PSsIfay5ofE?si=fv_KeB0IidhfsVwj We love travelling and have visited several European and African countries as a family. We have also enjoyed the company of backpackers from a number of different countries in recent years who we have met through our travels and network of family and friends. We are passionate about Tasmania and our unique way of life. We enjoy hiking, helping families who need a bit of support, cycling, and camping. Leanne speaks French and Italian and Paul pretends to do the same.

Hello, fellow adventurers! I'm Ankita, a passionate traveller from Hobart, Tasmania, with a deep love for exploring new cultures and forging connections across the globe. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ankiandishu/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/AnkiandIshu My journey has been enriched by the diverse landscapes and vibrant communities I've encountered in my travels, from the bustling streets of Paris to the serene beauty of Tasmania's natural wonders. I am a friendly and adventurous person. I enjoy the simple things in life.
Currently away travelling until August 2026, unable to host until after this time. Hello everyone, I like nothing better than wandering the world, meeting people and listening to their stories. I want to try all the different foods, drink something new, hear different music and see what’s happening in places I haven’t been before. I love wild places, open skies, mountains, beaches and tracks through the forest. But I also love back streets, graffiti, dingy bars, street food and things I don’t understand. Mostly I’m wandering solo but sometimes with family or friends. I am ridiculously curious about lots of things. I spent four years travelling the Americas, ( South, Central and small parts of the USA and Canada.) I drove an old van around central Australia. I used to hike a lot but now I can’t.😢I still like to travel slow, volunteering, housesitting and I’m very bad at planning because I always want to leave room for things to just happen.
I am a young(er) professional who has a passion for traveling and learning about other cultures. I used to live in Austria, as well as participated in a few cultural exchanges in my youth, and felt enlightened by the experiences. My lifelong passion for exploring the world and expanding my worldview drove me to save aggressively throughout the last four years --I am happy to say that after working in behavioral health and other social sectors for several years, I saved up enough money to quit both of my jobs and travel the world indefinitely. Before this, I have spent most of my career serving others. Most recently, I worked with Anchorage's at-risk youth by providing vocational training and access to mental health services; but I have also managed food pantries and helped rescue food from commercial kitchen spaces to low-income families. In my free time, I enjoy spending my time outdoors (hiking, biking, skiing, etc.), as well as getting together with friends for a pint or a casual conversation. I am an avid tea drinker and love to cook! When I have access to a kitchen, I make my own breads (tortillas, loaves, pancakes, naan, bagels, scones, etc.), yogurt/spreads/sauces, and most of my meals from scratch. Back in Anchorage, I gardened with my roommate in the summer and was blessed with year-long access to fresh produce from a network of local farmers. All is to say, I would be honored to learn how to cook a dish from your home country/region to add to my weekly repertoire! Living in Alaska has allowed me to reflect on how scarce our resources on Earth truly are and how important it is to use the gifts nature provides us wisely. I value sustainable practices and conserving the resources that remain.. Recognizing these resources as gifts, caring for these gifts, taking only what we need, and giving what we don't use ensures that we have these resources and natural beauty for generations to come! Much like the couchsurfing community, reciprocity is key for building community and recognizing gratitude for what we have in life. I have found greater appreciation and happiness in my life when I act as a steward for others and our world, and I dream that others will someday follow suit. I am independent, easygoing, and while l tend to prefer low-key, quiet activities, I am always up for an adventure and willing to try new things outside of my comfort zone. I hope to meet you soon!
