In 2017, I left my home near Washington DC and moved to Munich to live with my now wife, Anja (who I met through CSing!). After five years in Germany, we decided to take an extended break from the corporate world to travel. Starting in December 2022, we spent the next 14 months first backpacking in East Africa, India, and Sri Lanka then enjoyed a "short" road trip from Germany to Mongolia and back in our self-renovated Lada Niva 4x4. After returning, we married, moved to Hamburg, recently had a baby boy, and bought a house in the countryside town of Bordesholm in Schleswig-Holstein. I’ve been an avid Couch-Surfer and Host since 2009, meeting many of the most interesting people I know. This community has opened my heart and mind to new cultures, languages, religions, foods, and experiences that have made me a more trusting and happier person. We exist in an ever-intertwined world. In such times, cultural exchanges serve to broaden our perspectives by exposing us to diverse traditions, values, and beliefs. The learning while traveling and getting in deep to local cultures goes beyond what any textbook could teach. I believe cultural exchange is one of the most enriching aspects of travel, it helped us to eliminate prejudices we may have about what is unknown to us As an adventurous person, I believe in embracing every moment, finding joy in the simple things, and making the most of our time here on Earth.
