CURRENT MISSION: Continue meeting people, making friends, sharing stories and adventures! Build my business so I can continue to travel and learn more about people and the world. ABOUT ME I'm all about fun! I'll try anything twice. I believe in positivity. Canadian entrepreneur Always up for an adventure whether it's skinny dipping, jumping out of a plane or anything in between, I'll be there! Love to travel, hitting the slopes, laying on the beach, unexpected adventures while making new friends. PHILOSOPHY Life is an adventure, live it! Laugh at everything! Learn from your mistakes, enjoy life the ups and the downs, it's all a matter of perspective after all. I consider myself an "optimistic realist"
Hi there! :) I love to travel and make new friends. When hosting, I love to show people around the area and go on hikes. My newest hobby is sewing and I appreciate all types of art. My home: a spare room in a peaceful spot. Very into music with a few spare instruments if you’d like to jam or play on your own. I’m open to spending time together or giving you space to do your own thing which ever you prefer. :) I usually work during the week but have evenings to hang out.
Just re-joining the Couchsurf space and updating this bio now. Late 2026. I am a practicing home herbalist, living in Washington State since 2019. The plants are what drew me here, plus the views of the mountains. I love foraging. I make linework jewelry pieces for my work, which is work-from-home. I am glad to have a work at home job because I have a circadian rhythm disorder called Non-24, so keeping consistent schedules is fairly impossible. I live in a camper in the forest on an island. Rustic and affordable, beautiful yet challenging. I have spent time living at ashrams and have traveled endlessly. I am enjoying being in one place again. I rarely leave my island because the ferry system where I live is unreliable and I do not drive or have disposable income, so I could get stuck at the ferry terminal overnight without shelter. I am thinking Couchsurfing could be a fun way to get out to a Mariner's game or a concert once in a while. Inspired to come back because of the current concert in my trips list.
READ BELOW for tips on places to visit and things to eat in Victoria. :-) I'm a self employed graphic designer and and out-of-practice professional musician. I've done some long distance hiking, mostly on the Pacific Crest Trail, but haven't traveled nearly as much as I'd like. I like dark beer, fine liquors, bean-to-bar chocolate, and am generally indulgent. Here's my guide to some of the best places to eat while you're in Victoria, all walking distance of downtown, and a few things to check out. :) There are SO many good restaurants in Victoria, I can't really list all the best, but here's some of my top pics: SOME OF MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS - Blue Fox for Breakfast or Lunch: this is the restaurant that launched the "Brunch Scene" in Victoria, and still claims the throne. There may be a 20+ minute line-up, but it's worth it. :) http://goo.gl/maps/xslRS - Nourish in James Bay: it's in a funky old character house on the route from Downtown to Fisherman's Wharf in James Bay - REALLY nice, nourishing food, but also very indulgent. I recommend ordering something savory and sharing the sleeping beauty pancakes. (they're not really pancakes) Some vegetarian, some vegan, and some meat options, all very high quality. https://goo.gl/maps/C4ckFf4KtwL2 - Heron Rock in James Bay has an excellent menu, best poutine in town, my favorite beer on tap (Nightwatch Coffee Lager). They have excellent happy hour drink and food specials between 3:00 and 5:00, and 8:00 and close. They have live music Monday, Thursday and Friday nights. - 10 Acres: it's right downtown by the Empress, has two sides - the Commons which is more of a high-energy club atmosphere, and the Bistro, which is .... more of a bistro. Excellent brunch, excellent dinner, great drinks, one of my favorites. All food sourced from a local 10 acre farm on the peninsula. - The Bent Mast Pub in James Bay has great pub food, including good brunch on the weekends - and unlike most other places in town, their prices didn't double over the past few years. Great patio for drinking beers in the sun in the summer. - James Bay Inn: historic old building, nice old 50s style diner on one side, very cozy old pub on the other, big menu, great pub food. - Fathom: in the bottom of the Grand Pacific Hotel, finer dining, more expensive but fantastic food, AMAZING cocktails, good happy hour in the afternoon. - Il Covo Trattoria: right near Fisherman's Wharf here in James Bay, arguably the best Italian in town, in a great old historic building. Fantastic cocktails, killer focaccia, gnocchi, etc. Highly recommend, but it's popular and usually full so make a reservation. - The Coriander: Indian restaurant here in James Bay, absolutely fantastic. Overly bright room for my taste, I always take out. - Real Thai: also here in James Bay, excellent Thai food. Best spring rolls I've had. - Spinnakers Brewpub: Top quality hand crafted beers, and not only is the food great, but they keep several island farms in business by exclusively sourcing locally. BEST PART - the hand made truffles at the chocolate counter by the front door - these may be the best chocolates you'll ever have and they're quite affordable compared to other chocolatiers, so be sure to pick a few up. It's a nice walk along the waterfront across the bridge from downtown to get there, well worth the walk just for the chocolates. :) http://goo.gl/maps/qVj6r - The Humboldt: cocktail bar, only open in the evenings, small menu but excellent food and some of the best cocktails in town in a dark cozy space. - Thunderbird Korean Fried Chicken: in Cook Street Village, very good. - Hidden Gem: also in Cook Street, great hot drinks and baked goods with lots of vegan options. - Rabbit Rabbit: Haven't been, but it's one of two recently voted "best new restaurants in Canada" - Janevca: Haven't been, but it's the other one of two recently voted "best new restaurants in Canada" VEGAN / VEGETARIAN - Virtuous Pie - great beer / drinks and likely the best vegan pizza and appies you've had. https://goo.gl/maps/kXiR8UwSwvrXiSbs6 - Rebar: some great vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Really good, quality food and a Victoria classic. http://goo.gl/maps/2Dlsm - Be Love: likely the best spot in town for quality vegetarian/vegan cuisine. https://goo.gl/maps/XysgADYxN7B2 - Green Cuisine: not at all fancy, but comfy, very popular. Cafeteria style. Huge selection of vegan eats. I don't recommend the deserts, they're hit and miss. Good place for a quiet reprieve. Downstairs in Market Square: http://goo.gl/maps/C1hMi - On the Pandora entrance to Fan Tan Alley, there's a fantastic vegan chocolatier - The aforementioned Hidden Gem in Cook Street Village has some excellent vegan baked goods - You can find Cold Comfort ice cream bars around town - expensive, but fantastic, most coconut cream based SOME OTHER GREAT EATS - Foo Asian Street Food: VERY tasty stuff! Great for take-out to eat in the park or sneak into a movie, etc. http://goo.gl/maps/UF8yU - Chimac Korean fried chicken (take an order out to Market Square, you can bring outside food to the brewery there) - Four Spice: best Indian food I've ever had. It's a bit out of downtown, but worth ordering for delivery. - Boomtown: great burritos / etc, great beer selection, excellent outdoor seating area. - Drake in Market Square is not my fav place to for food, the menu is small and expensive, but it is very good and the seating outside is excellent. The beer selection is rotating taps from around the world. SUSHI - Ebizo: So good! Try the tuna tataki. http://goo.gl/maps/ClhZa COFFEE - Fantastico is your best option - a few locations, including Parkside across from St Anne's academy (check out the grounds there), and over in Vic West, with Fol Epi bakery right behind for the best pastries / baked treats in town. - Discovery is the next best, with locations in James Bay, downtown, etc. They make fantastic donuts also. - Hidden Gem in Cook Street Village is great. CHOCOLATE - The Chocolate Project in the Atrium building on Blanshard has a huge selection of the best bean-to-bar chocolate from around the world. - Chocolat & Co on Fort carries some of the same bars as the Chocolate Project, and some local chocolate - Birdcage in James Bay makes their own amazing truffles, which you can also get at Chocolat & Co - There's a vegan chocolatier at the south entrance to Fan Tan Alley. FOR QUALITY LOCAL CRAFT BEERS - I'd go to Spinnakers, Moon Under Water, Whistle Buoy, Phillips Tasting Room ... but I'd skip Swans, their beers all seem over-flavored, over-carbonated and gimmicky, and the food is definitely uninspired. - There are three great pubs on Government Street: Irish Times, Bard and Banker, Garrick's Head. They're all beautiful buildings and worth a visit, but of the three I recommend Garrick's Head: huge beer selection, great food, go all the way to the back of the place for the smaller old pub space if it's too loud in the big room up-front. http://goo.gl/maps/do3qF Bard and Banker is an amazing building though, has been used as a movie set at least a few times. - Bent Mast in James Bay has a great patio and serves big 20oz pints - Last pub recommendation: Stop for a pint at Big Bad John's on Douglas for the novelty. ;) http://goo.gl/maps/gbv4j SOME LOCAL FAV BEERS INCLUDE: - Hoyne Dark Matter - even people who don't like dark beer usually like this one - Lighthouse Nightwatch Coffee Lager - coffee in lighter beers is a really fantastic combination - Category 12 Juicy Data IPA - 33 Acres Mezcal Gose - Phillips Longboat Chocolate Porter .... but beer tastes are individual and we have MANY great local here. We also have some really fantastic local spirits. Some of my favorites include - Devine Honeyshine: technically a rum, but more like a whiskey. Their vermouths are also fantastic. - Stump coastal forest gin: sooo smooth, I don't even mix it. - Sheringham's chocolate or coffee vodka. They make a bunch of great stuff. OTHER THINGS TO CHECK OUT: - The Royal BC Museum is a very nice way to spend a couple hours, great break from the sun on a hot day - The water taxi's do a tour that I'm sure is very nice, and also have a "Pickle Boat Pub Tour" - Russel Books on Fort - three floors of very well priced new and used books - Beacon Hill Park - the peacocks are very chill, there's a petting zoo, behind that up the hill there's a great view down over the ocean and across to the Olympic Peninsula - The Governor's House - beautiful big grounds & flower gardens, and right around the corner from Craigdarroch Castle - Royal Roads Campus - the castle which was Xavier's University in x-men. Really beautiful gardens beside. - Market Garden in Vic West. I'm not going to tell you anything, don't research, just go in blind. Trust me. :-) SOME GREAT WATERFRONT PATHS A) Across the bridge into Esquimalt - Don't forget to stop at Spinnakers for chocolates!: http://goo.gl/maps/M5Fvy B) Around James Bay to the Breakwater - Stop for a tour around Fisherman's Wharf, I don't recommend the Mexican food there. There's a fish market and food truck up above the wharf, across the park with excellent fish tacos and fish and chips that I've enjoyed more than the options on the wharf: http://goo.gl/maps/ILnJl C) Long walk along Dallas Road to Oak Bay - http://goo.gl/maps/oXUKx D) Nice trail to Banfield Park on the Gorge - short stretch where it doesn't look great after you cross the bridge, but further on it's a very nice trail: http://goo.gl/maps/Eboi5 - also a good spot for a swim in the summer SWIMMING - Banfield park is the best spot for jumping in the ocean here. It's past the inner harbor so not as cold as along the beaches. - Thetis lake is the closest lake to town. Many miles of beautiful trails around the lake and beyond into the woods. CYCLING - We have an amazing and growing network of dedicated bike lanes through the city, but our main prizes are the Lochside Trail, which goes 35k all the way up to the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, and the Galloping Goose, which goes 50k all the way out to East Sooke Potholes - another great place to swim There's more of everything, of course, but time for me to move on with my day. If you have any questions, want recommendations for a different type of cuisine, drop me a message and I'll try to get back to you promptly. Enjoy your visit!

It is important to know that I have a Labrador retriever living with me. If you re not comfortable with dogs then it might not work. CURRENT MISSION My mission is to have fun while exploring the BC majestic outdoors. ABOUT ME (read carefully) I WANT MORE THAN JUST PROVIDE A PLACE TO SLEEP TO MY GUESTS. IF YOU ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO STAY, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME A REQUEST: I want to spend time with my guests, have the opportunity to socialize and to find out about their adventure. I believe; we will all be getting something amazing out of the experience. I love taking people to great outdoor places on hikes. I would love to meet people travelling and show them a good time. If you can afford a few dollars for gas then we can go explore more and further away. I host a great number of people so your help with the cost of gas , would be appreciated. If you cannot, I would still be glad to take you around. I do not drink any alcohol but you are welcome to have a beer or a glass of wine with your meal to relax at the end of the day in my home. I am retired have lots of time on my hands.
I am a solo traveler, and a minimalist.
ABOUT ME My partner and I just returned from a year+ of travels, exploring Southeast Asia, India and Africa. We had many exciting adventures but we're happy to be home again and settled in one place for a little bit. We're back to work during the week and on weekends we are catching up with friends and family, biking, going to the beach, making art and puttering around the house and garden. Feel free to check out my partner's page too! Callum Scott: https://couchsurfing.page.link/rMZs6LkyGEpasZS4A About me: I am an artist, photographer and high school art and English teacher, originally from Victoria, BC. I've spent several years travelling, working abroad, and adventuring around Canada, going to music festivals, mushroom picking and arting in Montreal. The past few years, being island bound, has given me the opportunity to explore my home island, learn more about nature and foraging. My partner and I also recently bought a house which we've been busy renovating, and we're excited to be able to host when we're able. I'm a very easy going, friendly and respectful person. I love to meet new people and go on random adventures. PHILOSOPHY to be free
"A Dream about being human" Adaptive and enthusiastic and believer of individual evolution. Like to believe in the richness of whatever is left in humanity.
CURRENT MISSION to be happy, ABOUT ME Recently moved back to Victoria after spending 3 years in Toronto. I have also lived in Montreal and Québec city. PHILOSOPHY Be good in life and life will be good with you in return
CURRENT MISSION Grab life by the hair and squeeze every drop of love and adventure out of it that I can. ABOUT ME I'm a self-employed permaculturist, carpenter/woodworker, field biologist, and teacher of survival skills, Nature literacy, and homesteading skills. I caretake a 12 acre lavender farm. I try to live mindfully and have many skills for homesteading, building, Nature awareness, survival skills, and being regenerative to the world around me. And I volunteer quite a bit for social justice (Free Palestine!), oil spill response, and environmental stewardship. I always try to show my couch surfers a good time and the best of this area. I was on season 6 of the ALONE show on the History channel if you follow those things. I moved to Lopez Island in 2014, then San Juan 2023. PHILOSOPHY Gratitude is our only currency
Kind and creative lefty nerd seeking peaceful places to lay my head as I explore western Turtle Island. Recovering social worker (and harm reduction-er) on a break from the social services world. Awkward and burgeoning writer who is frustrated and confused by mediocrity and flood pants. Avid explorer; nervous about the journey for some reason. When not sweeping the feet of fascists, I can be found manicuring my neck beard. Thanks for reading.
CURRENT MISSION To spread kindness and leave the world a little brighter than I found it. ABOUT ME Hi there! I’ve never been great at describing myself with a list of adjectives, so I’d rather let people get to know me through conversation and shared experiences. That said, I like to think I’m easygoing, genuine, and good company. Also, for the record, I’m definitely not the star of a true-crime documentary. I love being outdoors and exploring. One of my favorite things is hopping on my motorcycle and taking off somewhere around Vancouver Island, with no real rush to get anywhere. There’s something about the freedom of the open road that never gets old. I also enjoy horseback riding. I’m not an expert by any means, but I love being around horses and spending time in nature. It’s one of those things that always puts me in a good mood. On sunny days, you’ll probably find me at the beach with a chair, an umbrella, and enough snacks to stay there for hours. I’m perfectly happy listening to the waves and enjoying a slow afternoon. Music is a big part of my life. I grew up on classic rock, so bands like The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, Deep Purple, and The Doors will always have a place in my playlist. But my taste is all over the place—I also enjoy reggae, house, deep house, lounge, and tribal music. It really depends on the day and the mood. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to experience some amazing adventures. Rally racing was a huge part of my life for seven years, and I still volunteer with WRC Mexico because I love the people, the atmosphere, and the excitement of the sport. Scuba diving is another passion of mine. Every dive feels like stepping into a completely different world. I also spent several years connected to Ukraine and its culture, which became an important chapter of my life. These days, I’m enjoying rediscovering Canada and exploring more of what this beautiful country has to offer. There’s plenty more to my story, but that’s probably enough for now. The rest is better shared over a coffee, a walk, or an adventure. PHILOSOPHY Be yourself. The right people will appreciate you for exactly who you are.
