I live in Bristol and use a wheelchair due to a neurological condition called Friedreichโs Ataxia, which is progressive over time. I keep my home clean, tidy, and well-organised โ it makes life calmer and easier, and I enjoy welcoming people into that environment. Travel has always been a big part of my life, and I love culture, meeting new people, and experiencing the world. For now, since I donโt travel as much myself, hosting through Couchsurfing feels like way to stay connected to that spirit of exchange. My focus these days is on health and balance โ good food, rest, and routines that keep me steady. When I host, I value guests who are relaxed, considerate, and independent, while also enjoying conversation and shared moments. Iโm curious about the world and enjoy deep, intelligent discussions โ philosophy, economics, culture, and systems of society. Iโd be glad to share stories, go for a short walk, or explore some of Bristol together.
I'm an architect and furniture designer/maker from Bristol, UK. I enjoy making things, understanding how they work, and exploring the relationship between design, people and place. I love wandering cities on foot, discovering interesting architecture, finding independent cafรฉs and having conversations that leave me thinking long afterwards. I'm naturally curious and enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds. I don't travel to tick countries off a list. I travel because I enjoy experiencing places through the people who live there.
I live in a flat/apartment near Staple Hill in Bristol, it is about a 30-40 minute bus ride into Bristol, or a 25 minute cycle, down a lovely old railway, cycle path. (Or you can cycle the other way about 10 miles to Bath) I am very relaxed and easy going and like to make new friends... my belief is that strangers are just friends you have not yet met. I love to learn about new things. For work, I find interesting speakers to talk at conferences and events - I most like sustainability, the future, tech, growth, and education though I love to research all topics - I connect people to do fabulous things. I also do a bit of coding and have recorded a few audio books. I am now authoring and narrating a series of sleep enhancing subconscious mind schooling books. I also help teach about financial independence to give people freedom and choice in their life. https://rebeldonegans.com/finance/rfs/course-notes/ (new free course starting May/June, 2026) I have 3 children who do not live with me - 29, 27 and 12 I like to read, learn, self-development, and listening to audio books and podcasts. I very much like board games and films of many genres, though not really into horror. Music? If I like it, I like it... no fixed genre.
I'm an explorer, nature enthusiast, (birder), hiker, traveler and want to host similar minded people. I'm currently in Dorset - 25 mins drive from Poole/ Bournemouth The last few years (since 2017), I've spent a lot of time in Spain, but also in 27 other European countries in a camper van ahead of the disaster known as Brexshit and the pandemic. Between 2016 and 2019 I managed to fit in visits to India, the Middle East, Morocco, Southern Africa, plus six months in North and Central America. The next trips are coming soon. Hoping to be able to visit some of the following:- Scandinavia, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, Phillipines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, the US, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Georgia, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Poland.

*I can host and I'm currently active! (why have they removed this)* Hey ๐ I'm Ed from England ๐ฌ๐ง๐ฌ๐ง I love to travel because I don't think there's a better way to meet people. In the last couple years I've travelled to Thailand, Turkey, Japan/Korea, India, South America, and interrailed around Europe. Back home I work in a drug research facility as an Analytical Scientist and also study Biochemistry at the University of Bath. I love running (specialising in 5 km distance) and hiking. Feel free to message me if you want to hang out or need some info about Bath
My little flat really is, well, little. It is a bedsit, which in UK means it's all one room. What this means to you is that my bed and the couch are in the same room. *** Please read the bit "About My Home" as I get worried guests will feel uncomfortable or awkward. It's a small flat. You have privacy, but it's cosy here... *** ABOUT ME Every day - a new adventure... Heart-wrenchingly open. I find myself fascinated much of the time. Touched by almost everything. Prone to long silence and deep stillness. I hear the voice of God. In my heart; in the desert; and sometimes in the air around me. I enjoy finding the depth of a person beneath the presentation. PHILOSOPHY: If you look at a mountain long enough, hard enough, deep enough - it becomes Holy. I know because it did. Same for a blackberry bush. I make the Best Hot Chocolate in the world (over 128,000 views on YouTube)
NB: Currently unlikely to accept guests requests as I have an extensive painting and decorating works going on at my home. Iโm however happy to hang out or show you in and around bristol if that works well with your schedule. Im a very likable guy, jovial, genial and get on well easily with people I meet. I own and run an online fine art gallery with a corporate and public art consultancy tenet which i run as part time business now. I work as Director of Strategy and Corporate Services and have resort to contracting in the last few years. After three years working industry Iโm back at working as a management consultant (self employed) as this gives me the freedom to follow my passions one of which is travelling and visiting new places as well as exploring different cultures. I love meeting new people, sharing experiences and exploring places. I have a great passion for yoga, spirituality, cooking and enjoy a good wine albeit not much of a drinker. My friends will describe me as intellectually agile and emotionally resilient. Iโm a great advocate for mental and emotional well-being, law of attraction and self love. Iโm rich in love, slow to anger, beaming with patience and have a kind heart. Iโm a workaholic but I do know how to let me head down. Most people have lost the essence or importance of CS and sadly see it as a free hotel service. That isnโt why Iโm part of this community. I understand that sometimes people find themselves in a predicament and will need a safe place to stay for a night or two and as such iโm happy to help as Iโve always done; but before you request to stay with me please take note of the essence and importance of the CS community and read my profile well before requesting me to host you. Remember Iโm not a free Airbnb!
