Hey, I’m Tom. 29, Croatian, currently based in Germany. Although “based” might be a generous word because I’m slowly developing a serious addiction to the idea of going somewhere else. I’ve spent 10+ years working in hospitality, which basically means I can make drinks, cook something out of almost nothing, survive chaotic group situations and have conversations with complete strangers as if we’ve known each other for years. I love travelling, but I’m not particularly interested in doing tourism by checklist. Give me a local bakery, a hidden swimming spot, a questionable little bar, a mountain trail or a random road with no obvious destination and I’m happy. I’m into yoga, meditation, music, cooking, nature, tattoos, anime and occasionally making decisions that sounded much better at 2am. I speak Croatian, English and German, and enough Italian, Czech ans Spanish to confidently order food and then discover I misunderstood the entire conversation. I’m currently trying to travel lighter, fewer possessions, fewer unnecessary plans, more experiences. My long-term goal is basically to wake up somewhere beautiful and have to ask myself: “Wait… why am I here?” …and hopefully have a good answer. I’m on Couchsurfing because I’d rather meet a local human than sleep in a perfectly sterile hotel room where the most exciting thing that happens is the Wi-Fi connecting automatically. I’m happy to cook, share a meal, explore, exchange stories, drink coffee, go for a hike, do some yoga, or simply sit somewhere and solve absolutely none of life’s problems. If you’re kind, curious, slightly adventurous and don’t mind plans changing five minutes before they happen=we’ll probably get along. And if you know where the good food is, I’m already listening. 🍝🌿
