I am originally from the Czech Republic but have been living on Kauai since 2007. I hike, bike, camp, sail, paddle, swim and adventure the amazing outdoors our tiny island offers. I often entertain friends so there are others and their insights to help you navigate your on-island activities. I do have a son (born 2015) who is sociable and chatty, but his time is split between his father's and my house so he is not always here.

Aloha, my name is Sarah and I live on the Northshore of Kauai. I am passionate about agriculture and tropical fruit. Within the next few months (late April) I will finally be in the space again where I am able to host travelers. I spent my early 20s solo traveling 13 countries. Kauai pulled me in and is now my forever home :). I love this land and I am infinitely grateful to call this island home. I live in a off-grid tiny house on a fruit orchard in a small agricultural community. Currently, I only have camping available with access to my kitchen, composting toilet, and a shower. I have a tent and single air mattress available too. I do have another tiny house on this land that possibly could be available for short term renting. If you are planning to visit Kalalau while on the island, I have many tips as I do the hike 2-3 times a year. The island may be small, but it is not easy to get around without renting a car. There is a bus that travels the main road around the island, but it does not get you close to beaches, waterfalls, or trail heads. I know many people who rent out cars on the island if you would like to avoid major car rental companies. There is also a great website called Turo that is great for renting cars from locals. I am selective with those who request visits. I am pretty busy, and sometimes dates just do not align with my schedule.

CURRENT MISSION I havenโ€™t been able to host in a few years because I have long-term roommates and my tiki lounge has become an animal foster sanctuary. But I am happy to go for a hike or kayak up a river or something like that if you are on Kauai and looking for something to do. I am happy to answer questions about the island, places to camp, best snorkeling places etc. I just don't have accommodations at my house right now to host overnight guests. Live a fun life and help others do the same. I feel lucky to live on Kauai and enjoy sharing my home with visitors. I bought a house in the Wailua Homesteads in 2017, so for those of you who have stayed with me before, please note that I no longer live by the beach. I am in a residential neighborhood on the south end of Kapaa. PHILOSOPHY You only live once
