CURRENT MISSION Seeking my enlightenment ABOUT ME Just logged into this site in the first time since... well, it would seem 7 years ago. Yikes! How time flies... I haven't couchsurfed yet - but I'm hoping too. And hopefully Australia will give me a perfect opportunity in March! Now, minor changes aside... the rest of my profile will remain the same. Ha! I LOVE to travel. I've traveled to some 14 countries so far, and have always hosteled it... after all, what better way is there to meet like-minded people? ... maybe couch surfing? My hobbies are varied, from more docile activities such as reading or playing guitar (I'm told I play well) to more energetic/exciting things such as rock climbing or skydiving. (Or, more recently, scuba diving!) PHILOSOPHY Live, experience, enjoy.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I haven't yet participated since I haven't yet had a chance... however, I'm considering trying to couch surf at some point in the future, and when I have my own place I might put my couch up for visitors if I enjoy the experience enough. At this point, who knows. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I haven't yet CouchSurfed, but I am excited about the possibility of it! If I had a place of my own, I would put my own couch up for others - though I likely won't have a place for a while.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: my favorite movie type tends to be darker think pieces (my personal top right now is a movie called "Naked" by Mike Leigh, but that's open to change). Depending on my mood, however, I can just as easily be found watching almost anything. Music: I am VERY eclectic when it comes to my taste in music. This will change even on a per-minute basis, again, depending on my mood. The only genres that I avoid are country and boy-band-type pop. Books: again, I have a wide taste in literature. Unfortunately, at the moment my reading consists mostly of material of a technical nature - or occasionally business or languages - but I have an ever growing list of books to get to once I am "free" again... from Kurt Vonnegut (one of my top authors) to Don Quixote to... well, more technical-ish things again.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Well... for Canadians out there, I grew up in Nunavut... (hey, it seems to be considered 'amazing' to most Canadians I tell it to - though until I actually say it, apparently I seem "normal". Ha!) ... for non-Canadians, this is a lot harder to answer...
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a background in engineering... but for the most part, I'm doubting most people will need/want to learn much from there. Aside from that, I like to dabble in languages (I'm not that great in any of them however) and music. I am more than happy to share and teach what I can with guitar - in fact, I really wish more people would take me up on my offers to teach them. They say the best way to learn is to teach after all... I also have begun to collect stories from my travels, and I love to discuss travel. From growing up in Nunavut to catching a train on whim whilst in Europe and going to Germany... well, if I don't have a great story I am working at getting one. :)
