CURRENT MISSION To travel a lot to immerse myself in other cultures, at times tutoring English as I go. To find ways to help people improve their quality of life in their country so they won't need to leave & deal with the challenges of being an immigrant in another. ABOUT ME Spontaneous Adventurer with lots of energy and endless interests. I love many kinds of dance and music, taking walks, hiking and camping in the mountains, experiencing other cultures in every kind of way, ethnic food, and festivals. Travel out West and to New England in the US & abroad to immerse oneself in another culture is so great. Love being outside lots. I live simply. Enjoy working on my Spanish to fill the holes in my skills. I spend chunks of time working for peace & social justice. It's important to me to be a good listener and a supportive friend. I strive to make a difference in small & larger ways every day. And I balance this with loads of passionate play. I have loved my travels to several Latin American countries, Eastern Europe, Canada and several places in the US. My next destination coming up soon is to return to Eastern Europe. Parts of South America & Africa are high on my list, too. I'm trained, certified & very experienced in teaching English. I'd love to help you with yours. I also tutor beginner Spanish. PHILOSOPHY It's very important to me to be welcoming, friendly, helpful & supportive of others. It's very important to me to do my right work, which mainly involves helping people of other cultures and teaching. This is true for me as a longtime volunteer as well as for paid work. I feel strongly that work should not be drudgery and Monday not be dreaded. I think each of us can help make a differnce in a wide variety of ways. It's also key that we follow our passions, laugh & have some fun regularly.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I haven't done couchsurfing through this website, but I've done couchsurfing on my own over the years, as a host & as a surfer. My surfing experiences have definitely helped me have much richer and easier travels & connections to locals & real life. As a host, I've met good people who I wouldn't have otherwise and happily stayed connected befriending some. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE By getting connected through couchsurfing with some awesome people in my town before I moved here, I was able to not only know some people & great places to hang out, but ended up renting the house I first stayed in from the woman I befriended. This eased the move enormously in so many ways, including already meeting many neighbors.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love most kinds of music. Especially Blues, Celtic, African, Indian, Reggae, most ethnic folk I prefer to read non-fiction to learn new things. Movies aren't my priority generally, but I like a wide variety including those with Meryl Streep, Michael Moore, Woody Allen, Robin Williams, Kate Winslett, Hugh Grant, Dustin Hoffman.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I recently saw some of the most amazing waterfalls & monkeys in Chiapas, Mexico.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd enjoy sharing my teaching ESOL skills. I'd love to learn some of other languages & to improve my Spanish. I'm happy to share how to live simply & travel frugally, as well as hear from others on this. I would also like to share in exchanges of experiences in doing our part to help improve the quality of life for others.
