CURRENT MISSION To fart like never before! ABOUT ME Jeez. I belong in a shack in the woods. I'm happiest when i'm cursing my head off trying to get all the wood chopped before it rains. I've lived in community a lot, and right now i'm enjoying having my own place while i'm in school. i've been a caregiver for people with alzheimer's, and a crisis line worker; consequently, i am very hard to surprise, and a good person to have around if the house catches fire. and i have an apreciation for highly unsophisticated humor. i'm sarcastic, and not serious often. i'm more intuitive than logical, and i'm definately a dork. Midwifery is my big passion in life, [no, that's a lie. i have a lot of passions in life. Midwifery is just my focus for now.] and i'm workin on remembering that not everyone wants to hear birth details. i think i'm a generally nice, understanding person who can be a bitch when necessary. i'm stubborn and have opinions about things, and i'm also easy to talk to. i like good stories a lot, and i like all the classic rural living things-gossip and canning and growing food. i have a lot of energy sometimes and i love to nap. i'm pretty damn goofy, and i like laughing til my belly hurts. i like to be outside best, and i pick my nose in public. i like coffee and ice cream a whole lot. i want about 10 kids one day, and i'm a little afraid of technology. PHILOSOPHY Life is ridiculous. Life is just fucken hilarious and it's so, so good to be here, even when it's fucken shitty. all our problems will end when women are encouraged to take up space. Earth is a woman, too, and sacred. there's some powerful forces around us, i try to respect them. i value honesty a lot. Stories are important. there's no such thing as crazy-listen to your elders. we get what we need. I watch the moon and cry a lot; this is good. i'm starting to sound like a fortune cookie, sorry...

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Well, this last June i did a lot of couch surfing as the community house i was living in fell apart. fun, though a little stressful, as i worried that some of my friends were just being nice. i'm a do the dishes and cook sort of couch surfer though, and i wasn't too worried. Also, hitchhiking up the west coast, from san fran to oregon, when i was 18 involved some unplanned-for couch surfing, as people took me in along the way. and then, once, when i was a homesteader living in the middle of nowhere without a car, but having a job in town, i would couch surf at various places when i got off work too late to hitch back home. And other hitchhiking trips...i love hitchhiking...i'm letting my homebody self have free reign these days, and i havent traveled in a while, though i do miss it in a way that isn't powerful enough to get me off my own couch and knock the tea mug out of my hand...all my traveling has made me very trusting of my instncts about who is safe, and also eager to take in travelers, especially those with good stories...
Music, Movies, and Books
i grewup without a TV, and have not ever owned one as an adult. This has severely limited my movie knowledge. Sometimes i feel like i'm missing a big part of US culture. i wish i was cool enough to be a folk singer-i'm totally tone deaf, but i have a lot of friends with guitars-i love to listen to them. I also like punk and bluegrass, and anything i can dance to. Right now i'm reading a book about granny midwives in alabama, and i read lame mystery novels to take a break from my midwifery focused life. i read fast and often.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Endless. The fact that garlic grows the spring after you plant it amazes me. I am in love with the ocean-i've lived by the ocean and seen it every morning, changing and constant. i am honored to be with women as they bring forth life, and i am honored to watch women heal from insane violations. Sometimes i'm just amazed that this world keeps on going. I cooked amazing curry from all dumpstered ingredients last night, and fall time blows my mind. Sleeping on the beach in the rain on a full moon night is amazing. My little sister is amazing. I'm a lucky bitch!
My Interests
i have a wide range of interests, from boogers to biodiesel, and other things that begin with the letter "B." For instance, i am an obsessive beekeeper, though my girls are at home in Oregon, staying on my friend's farm while i spend the year here in Texas, a move i made in order to attend school. Other "B" interests i have are beer, blackberries, especially canning them, and blankets, because i am very appreciative of the fine art of napping. Moving along the alphabet, i also enjoy coffee, and coffee shop conversation, although i have a definate limit on the amount of "jeez, i've made a discovery! the world is fucked up! i hate capitalism!" that i can take, cooking, curry, comic books, community activism. i like quilting, baking, drinking tea, gardening and placentas. i enjoy country type stuff like digging ponds and organic agriculture. other interests include ecology, woman-centered anything, dumpster-diving, barfights and what makes people tick. I'm also interested in hiking, yard sales, history, Africa, travel, crafty stuff, cultural anthropolgy and radical foreest defense. Herbal medicine, sewing, goat milk,farting, i can get interested in almost anything. Oh, i'm also into dental hygeine-just my own.
