CURRENT MISSION Make solar energy affordable and available to all humanity ABOUT ME When I first signed up for Couchsurfing in 2004 there were only about 1,000 people here! I try to bring delicious snacks and wash a few extra dishes. I started an organization called the Solar Gardens Institute http://www.solargardens.org - I travel to help communities go solar. Community solar gardens or shared solar is for people who have shaded roofs, live in historic structures or apartments, rent or otherwise are unable to install solar panels on their own house. In a community solar garden (shared solar) people own part of a solar array nearby, and receive a credit on their electric bill as if the panels were on their own roof. It's like a community garden - instead of a patch of vegetables, you get a patch of solar panels Raised money for solar lanterns to send to Puerto Rico and The Bahamas after hurricanes. I'm on a quest to see the world's great mountain ranges

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I'm an "empty nester" - I have a spare bedroom where I can host travelers. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I couchsurfed up and down the west coast for about five years, and hosted some wonderful folks. I've also couchsurfed in several other countries.
