CURRENTLY LIVING IN JOHANNESBURG - ONLY BACK IN ESWATINI FOR THE OCCASIONAL WEEK OR 2 ______ Hi there. I'm Dane. I have an age and nationalities and a face and brown (but graying) hair and passions and interests and dislikes and preferences and quirks and characteristics and shortcomings and strengths and a pocket full of random little papers and coins and stuff. Born and raised in Eswatini (Swaziland), though the family heritage is a complex tree. Lived, worked and studied around Europe (Amsterdam and Helsinki mainly) and the UK for some years, and came back home to Swaziland in 2009 to live, learn, work, play, give, and be. Since then, aside from a few trips here and there, I've been pretty bound to home and the numerous things it has to offer. I have more ideas than I know what to do with. I work in the arts (running projects as an artist, and through Yebo - our gallery and NGO) and environment/climate issues (policy, urban food, climate awareness/activism, climate justice advocacy, etc.) I've really, really enjoyed hosting on CS for the last 15 years and meeting amazing souls from around the world - reminding me that it still exists and turns.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Please don't send generic requests for accommodation - Couchsurfing is not just a free hostel service, it is a place to meet people that you would LIKE to meet and spend real time in a place. Please read people's profiles, and write personal requests that show that you actually have... Couchsurfing has changed a lot, but there is an inherent spirit that (I hope) will never die... I'm here to engage with those that want to keep that communal flame alive.
Music, Movies, and Books
Very eclectic but specific tastes in all things wonderful.. From the Beatles to Punk to Reggae to Paul Auster to Haruki Murakami to Calvin and Hobbes to Coen Brothers to Wes Anderson to Michel Gondry to TED to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy to Etc. ad infinitum. I love good stuff, and I like to share it.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Much better to share in person...
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn how to juggle, play drums and guitar, build my own house and dance like nobody is watching. I can teach you how to rock climb, rescue birds, do iyengar yoga, grow parsley, run an art gallery, or explain how climate change is probably gonna kill us all (alas)...
What I Can Share With Hosts
I always enjoy spending time with surfers - cooking, eating, drinking, talking, exploring together.... if possible. If I am busy while hosting you, I hope you are fine with just some accommodation, and making your own plans (with some advice from me, of course). If I am not busy I will try my best to show you around a bit, go on a hike, cook, talk, explore, etc... If you are hosting me, I promise to abide by any desired rhythms you have for your space! I am happy to contribute to food buying/preparation and cleaning. I am good at giving massages, reading people to sleep and doing dishes so if any of those things floats your boat let me know :)
