CURRENT MISSION To live life fully, simply, and hilariously ABOUT ME I was born in a treehouse (really!) amongst the rivers and rocks of Oregon and practically playing the banjo from the womb. PHILOSOPHY No philosphies to espouse except maybe do what you love and love what you do.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING Getting to know the world one person at a time. I am in awe of it and love exploring first-hand the cultures and unique people that comprise it. Honesty, respect, and compassion are important in my life. So is laughter. So is great conversation. So is just kickin' it. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Since 2005.
Music, Movies, and Books
Radiolab. And other podcasts. The Lives of Others. And other things with subtitles. Neil Young. Chopin. Van Morrison's Astral Weeks. What else?
One Amazing Thing I've Done
There is a southernmost point on Lopez in the San Juan Islands called Iceberg Point, where the glaciers carved out an awe-inspiring expanse of terrain. You can see some gnarly, contorted trees for climbing; a big warning light for ships on the rocks; and outrageous views from the cliffs out to the Olympic Mountains. Magical. Actually, all of the Pacific Northwest is a bit like this. Come see for yourself!
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach some sailing skills, decent one-pot rice/lentil recipes, backstroke, and some banjo traditionals.
My Interests
Water. Sailing through it, paddling, splashing in it. I am blessed to be near it here in the Northwest. Land and mountains. Trekking, climbing, lounging. Let's not forget to mention my like of eating delicious things, and doing things that lead to eating delicious things -- crabbing, clamming, mushroom-foraging.
