I've been reading Michael Pollan's "The Omnivores Dilemma" and been really digging it. For anyone who is the least bit interested in navigating and understanding the food situation in America, it is a must read. For movies I've been checking out a wide verity lately... "Yojimbo" (Kurosawa) is a MUST see [especially if you love westerns... Sergio Leone practically coppied Yojimbo shot for shot in his epic "A Fistful of Dollars"] and I'm totally enthralled with Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" as well.
