Hi there! I’m Alex, 29, from a small town in California. I studied nutrition in college, and I’m deeply passionate about helping people reconnect with their mind, body, and relationship with food. I believe food is so much more than fuel. It’s culture, identity, community, and love. I’ve worked in eating disorder recovery and prenatal nutrition, and I plan to go back to school to become a dietitian… but first, I took a little detour to follow my curiosity and love for the world. That detour took me to Italy, where I started as an au pair with a wonderful family who completely stole my heart. Soon after, I found myself WWOOFing on four different farms, including feeding chickens, picking vegetables, working with bees and edible flowers, and getting my hands very dirty in the best way. Somewhere between the farms and shared meals, I made lifelong friends and realized how much I love slow, meaningful travel. After the pandemic paused things, I returned to Italy for nine more months. I was living with my best friend Malo, studying Italian in Florence, working on a vegetable and olive oil farm in Sicily, and ending it all with a sweet little adventure around the country. Lately, I’ve been reconnecting with my Mexican heritage. I grew up around Spanish but never fully learned it, so this past year I’ve been studying and trying to speak it more. My best friend Malo and I are off for a new adventure. Malo’s family is Spanish and mine is Mexican, but neither of us grew up speaking our heritage languages. Our goal is simple: to learn, to connect, and to experience everyday life through the kindness of people we meet along the way. I’m an easygoing, curious guest who loves good conversation, shared meals, and the little moments that make a place feel like home

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I believe Couchsurfing offers a really special opportunity to connect with people and experience a culture in a more personal and meaningful way. That kind of connection is something I truly crave when I travel. I love going beyond just seeing a place to understand how people live, what they value, and the little everyday moments that make a place feel alive. While I don’t have much activity on Couchsurfing yet, it’s only because I’ve spent most of my time using platforms like Workaway and WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). Those experiences have given me so many unforgettable memories, meaningful connections, and a deeper appreciation for different ways of life. Now, I’m really excited to explore Couchsurfing as well, especially after hearing such wonderful stories from friends who’ve had amazing, genuine experiences through this community.
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite type of music is Reggaeton. I listen to it every day as it gives me a lot of energy! I don't have a favorite book at the moment, as I enjoy most books I read. The last book i read was The Love Hypothesis, which is now going to be a movie! I love a good Romantic Comedy book
One Amazing Thing I've Done
One thing I’m really proud of is my experience with traveling. Not many people in my life have leaped to travel for long periods of time, especially because it can feel unpredictable or outside of their comfort zone. For me, that’s actually part of what I love about it. Traveling has taught me how to problem-solve, adapt quickly, and stay open to new experiences and ways of life. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s helped me grow so much as a person. Because of those experiences, I’ve built a strong sense of confidence in myself and trust my ability to navigate new environments with curiosity and resilience.

What I Can Share With Hosts
Respect, warmth, and presence. We’re both clean, considerate, and used to living collectively (farms, shared houses, volunteering spaces). We’re happy to cook, help around the house, water plants, walk dogs, or contribute in any way that feels supportive. Mostly, we can share time, curiosity, and genuine interest in who you are. If this resonates, we’d love to meet you!
