One of my first experiences outside of France was a trip alone. I loved seeing new ways of living, a new architecture, ... but something was missing. Going to museums and discovering buildings felt like I was not interacting with the city, just passively watching it. I think Couchsurfing is a much better way to travel; it is a natural tool to get recommendations about great activities. Not necessarily activities made for tourists, but the ones meaningful enough to the host for him to share them.
