Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I like learning about different cultures and learning about people's journeys, life is so different for everyone and I find that fascinating.
Music, Movies, and Books
My music tastes are fairly eclectic and I love exploring different genres. Some of my fav artists/bands include: System of a Down, Sigur Ros, The Bennies, Monsieur Camembert, Los Tres, Phaux Real, Slipknot, Sui Generis, Calle 13, Wild Marmalde and Buraka Som Sistema. Lately my favorite genres are glitch hop, drum n bass, ska and gypsy jazz. Favourite author is Isabelle Allende. I don't like watching movies too much but I've marathoned through several tv shows. Some of my favourites: Weeds, Breaking Bad, Jane The Virgin, American Horror Story, Freaks and Geeks and Skins
Teach, Learn, Share
I always carry a spare set of poi and love guiding people through their first flow! I also really enjoy working on mandalas, they are super easy to create if you have a geometry set. I carry one around with me so I can help you get started on creating your very own. I also love creating fabric mandalas through tie dying and it would be super fun to create some if we have access to the materials. Oh and if you are a complete beginner I can show you how to do some really basic salsa moves if you are interested.
What I Can Share With Hosts
I will always endeavor to bring you a gift or make you something. What I can really share though is a kind ear. I'm so fascinated by peoples life stories, what has shaped them, their views on life, their triumphs and hard times. Sharing with a stranger can be quite cathartic. Also if you need a hand tidying up or preparing a meal I would be more than obliged =)
My Interests
Live music completes me! So I love catching a gig or going to festivals/doofs/raves/warehouse parties. I love dancing despite not being great but I enjoy salsa and bachata, cumbia, dancehall, skanking and free form. Over the last few months I've become really interested in flow arts, particularly Poi and have been slowly improving. I also enjoy landscape photography, learning to cook new recipes, and of course travelling. In my downtime I like to listen to the Palenke Norte lectures and the psychedelic salon while working on different madala/zentangle designs. I also try to keep informed about world politics and humanitarian issues and generally spend a lot of time working on ways to expand my consciousness naturally and reduce any negative impact I create on the planet.
