I'm Debmalya, a 27 year old PhD student at Renssealaer Polytechnic Institute. I was born and brought up in Kolkata, India and then moved to Houghton, Michigan for my Masters and then came to Troy for my PhD. I am a laid-back and fun-loving person with mild to serious interest in almost all sports and all types of music. I like traveling and meeting new people, hanging out with my friends and reading . I think I would make a good host because I'm not a judgmental person and I llike people because of their differences and not in spite of them. I think I would make a pleasant surfer as well because I'm clean, courteous and allergic to nothing but highstrung drama.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I guess one of the biggest reasons why I'm on couchsurfing is how much I love traveling and being exposed to new things, new places and cultures. Every single city, village or even locality has its own flavor and culture and I like experiencing that. There are times when my schedule doesn't allow me to travel as much as I'd want to; hosting a sufer, in those cases, acts as a means of vicarious traveling!!

What I Can Share With Hosts
Mostly jokes :P Kidding apart, I am a chilled out and fun person and I'm pretty sure I can show any of the guests a good time. Also, having seen a bunch of different places, I think I have a somewhat unique perspective on life which is fun to share with others.
My Interests
Reading, writing, swimming, table tennis, badminton, soccer, rock music, drinking (:P) and just chilling out with my friends. Traveling to new places and meeting new people is very close to my heart as well.
