Unfortunately despite the cliche of it all, a list of identity categories I fall into may be the simplest intro. I'm a white settler on unceded coast salish territory, queer and transgender, mostly sober, and I mainly just want to meet some nice people and see some cool stuff. Trying to do anti c(r)apitalism and anti racism and all those other antis as best as possible. I live with my partner and 3 other people on 5 acres of land on an island in the Pacific just off the coast of 'Vancouver'. We are a short ferry ride from both 'Vancouver' and 'Victoria', which makes for a delightful combo of remoteness without that frieghtful sequestration feeling that comes with being holed up on an island away from everything. We have 12 chickens, 1 dog, and a whole bunch of space. It's a pretty sweet deal. Those interested in visiting should know that we are of the more 'rustic' as well as the more 'gay' and 'chilling-hard' persuasions.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Well, at the risk of sounding both self-serving and self-congratulatory, I want to find places to stay when I'm travelling, and also help folks have a spot to stay when visiting wherever I am! I find that staying with locals is by far the best way to visit a place, and I want to set that up for both others and myself. Also it seems like kind of a cool way to shirk some of the capitalist elements of travel?
Music, Movies, and Books
I always hate the 'favorites' question, so I will answer with what music movies and books I've been enjoying as of late. Music- last 3 albums I've listened to were by Sister Nancy, The Inbreds, and a tape of a band called Key Losers, and they were pretty good! I like a variety of types of music. I will probably not impress you with my musical knowledge or snobbery but I welcome you to try to judge me about it if feeling superior is your kick. Otherwise we can just enjoy music normal style without the power games. Movies- Love old sci-fi stuff, new sci-fi stuff, funny stuff, art stuff, even. Mainly I'm just not into historical fiction. Books - I'm reading an Armistead Maupin book right now and I just bought a dictionary of the meanings and the origins of common idioms that i'm stoked to read.
What I Can Share With Hosts
Pleasant demeanor, and I will get you some nice snacks and maybe some toilet paper! Having guests can be taxing in the tp department.
