I have been travelling since i was a teenager. I wished we had the internet then. I own a large house in the suburbs of Ottawa with very good bus connections to downtown . My two sons live with me (29 and 23).

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
When my children were young we traveled as a family for 4 years. We sailed around the world in an old steel ketch. We had so many people helping us in all places of the world that I feel it is time to help some travelers now.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like almost all kinds of music with the exception of rap and jazz. My favorite authors are Wilbur Smith, James Michener, Jeffrey Archer, Dan Brown, Ken Follett. I will think of more.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
There are two main things in my life that were exceptional. I sailed around the world with my family 1997 to 2001 and I smuggled a girl out of East Germany in 1977.
Teach, Learn, Share
I had many professions in m life, one was a high school teacher. I like to share my travel experiences with others. I also like to learn from others especially from different cultures.
My Interests
I love to travel I enjoy fast cars, movies, music, reading, the theater, skiing, sailing, home renovations. I have started a charity that I am very involved with. We support students in Kenya and pay high school and some university tuition. We started this while we were traveling there in 2000 (www.NorthernMagic.ca).We also renovated some Elementary schools.
